I have attached some information for leaky gut and oxalates. Some information is for the oxalate group and doing the diet. I hope this info can help.

LynnFor my oldest son who is 8, he takes Intuniv, a nonstimulant medication for his ADHD and it helps to control tics. For my younger son who is 6 and has the worst tics worst now, we tried GABA a natural supplement, an amino acid which works well for tics but not for my son. It made his focus really bad. He could not do well in school but it helped with the tics. Now we were trying Ignatia amara (homeopathic pellets) but I did not see a difference. Now I am doing it by diet, as I suspect he may have a high load of oxalate because it is believed that miralax may turn into oxalates in the bood and that is why it may never leave the body. So I am starting the low oxalate diet on top of gluten and dairy free. We are also in the process of healing the leaky gut we all have so that should eventually help with tics. At this point it is all trial and error and we just don't know. Are you using good probiotics? Do u suspect your child has leaky gut and or candida?

what kind of tics did he have? mine is having large motor tics. he moves side to side, sucks in stomach, loud sniffing,

My son had tics when he was 5. We stopped the miralax and the tics would come and go for about the next 3-4 months. He is 7 now and the tics have not come back.

Lynn, please check out the files section of urinary excretion of PEG. ALL doesn't come back out of the body. 4-15% is not recovered and this was referenced by the medical director of Braintree Labs, the original maker of Miralax

Lynn, the article is below, it says her urine did not report to normal until 30 hrs. We have seen calcium oxalate crystals and problems with urine, kidney, etc. up to a decade later.

I can't remember where I found this very important piece of information but years ago many said they were using PEG in spinal cord injury patients but I assumed it was using it like stem cell research or along the lines of mending the spinal cord. My 5 year old son has been on 1 capful of miralax for 28 days per doctor for constipation. Week 1 frequent urination and bedwetting (doctor said it was from being very backed up). Week 2 extreme fatique (eyes 1/2 shut), eye blinking tic, spaciness, change of personality to very mellow. Week 3 started all the different motor tics which he still has presently daily and he is still vert tired at times. During this time took him to the doctors 3 times and never once did they think it was miralax and neither did I. Last night I entered miralax and tics and found all this information and have been just blown away by it all. My son has an eeg on monday. I told my doctor today about miralax and she said there is no scientific evidence and doubts his symptoms are from it. She said if he had any extra in him he would urinate it out and it wouldnt go into the blood stream or effect brain. I would love to hear from anyone that has had a similiar situation. Does anyone know how long it takes for miralax to be out of the system. Tonight will be 2 full days for him and he still has the tics. Thanks so much!!!
