Guest guest
My daughter is three and a half and has been taking Miralax for over a year. It helped her with constipation and she started having daily bowel movements. We didn’t have any side effects, but I don’t feel right about giving it to her for this long. And now that I found this group and reading about all the potential side effects, I really want to stop with Miralax asap. The doctor said she’s now ready to be weaned, by decreasing her daily doze of Miralax and adding fiber to her diet. Her doze is ¾ capful, and the doctor said to go down ½ capful every two weeks. So we started decreasing Miralax this week and are giving her more fruits, veggies, FiberOne cereal, high fiber bread. And lots of water and liquids. She did not have a BM on Monday. And had a very hard one yesterday. Now I am worried that she will relapse back into her constipation cycle again. Her constipation issue is mental – she wants to go and holds it in because she says it hurts, and then it hurts even more because she’s been holding it in for days. She’s been doing really well for the past couple of months and I’d like to keep it that way while gradually weaning her off Miralax. Please share your advice on what is the best way to wean off Miralax. Thank you. Hotmail is redefining busy with tools for the New Busy. Get more from your inbox. See how.
