I've found another book that gives an actual 'citation' and it points to an article by Grof the year before " Adventures of Self-Discovery " was published. So far I can't find the article. He probably re-used the article in writing the book. Maybe eventually I'll find an actual citation of the Collected Works... or not, if this is a paraphrase.
