Guest guest
Hello, I am an emt student and I have rode out with a couple of big services, of which will remain anonymous, and I have seen a few personality traits that I have questions about. First, is it normal for paramedics to argue with patients and nursing staffs about the need for an ambulance? Example: " You called an ambulance for that? " or " If they can walk, they don't need to waste our time, I don't care what the Dr. says " Second. Does everybody smoke in the ambulance even though they know they're not supposed to? I've even seen someone smoke while driving to the hospital with a patient. Third. Do all paramedics think that doctors are stupid and get irrately offended when they are denied orders and then badmouth that doctor to the patient? Fourth. Do most paramedics stare down other drivers, yell at them over the pa system and sometimes flip them off when they won't get out of the way? Also, is it normal for paramedics to break traffic laws when not running hot, or run 70mph in a 40 mph zone with the attitude of , " I'm in an ambulance, the cops won't touch us " . I have seen these happen with several different paramedics and one of them did them all! If these things are normal among paramedics, why do they always complain about lack of respect from the community and hospitals? Just a couple of questions.
