Guest guest
I have been taking cymbalta for a month now. It has definitely helped with the depression already, but I cant say that it is doing a whole lot for the nerve pain. But then again it might be too. I am getting a higher dose of neurontin tomorrow, since I have been off the lowest dose of it for about 3 weeks now. So, I am still in need of pain meds. But it might work different for everyone. Hope my input helps some.
Guest guest
I'm getting no relief from Ibuprofen or > Ketaprofen or anything OTC > > > Hi , I take Anaprox (prescription form of Aleve) with Ultram and Zanaflex for my Fibro. The combination works fairly well. In my own experience I didn't get much relief from narcotics. Everyone is different so you may do well on them. Guest guest
> > Does anyone here use this? > Thanks. > > -theresa Theresa, I've been taking Cymbalta for about a year for my fibromyalgia and have noticed a dramatic improvement in my morning stiffness. I used to barely be able to walk when I first got up. I felt like I was 900 years old. Now I only feel like I'm 142! I've never had a problem with depression so I don't know how it effects that, but since that's what it was intended for it should help. Good luck, Georgia

Guest guest
Thanks, everyone, for the info on Cymbalta. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do, in terms of switching to it. I see a neurosurgeon on the 19th, then my primary care Dr. on the 20th. After that I will be headed back to pain management. I'll figure it out somewhere along the way. Again, thanks. I appreciate your input. -theresa > wrote: My doc started me on that i just couldn't adjust to it i tried it for about 10 days i could never get up in the morning and i felt so tired all the time- i quit it right away. Guest guest
, I have taken Cymbalta for about a year and have not had any side effects from it. From your post I hope to God I never do. It sounds like you went through hell to shake it. I had no idea that it was that hard to withdraw from. It must be a horrible feeling, and you never know when the Dr. puts a stop to your meds. Thanks for the info. donna
Guest guest
Hi All, I am new to the group and have not posted before this. I have RSD, have had it for about 9 years. It started in my right knee, then spread down the leg, then after a second surgery it mirrored itself in the other leg. I have tried many drugs to help with the pain, and currently I am on Methadone, Fentanyl patches, and Ambien for some sleep. I tried Lyrica but did not like it. Now they want me to try Cymbalta, and I was wondering is anyone has used it and if so do you have any results or side effects from it. My injury happened at work, or I should say that I got hurt at work and then a few months later was forced to have a knee surgery because the knee would not move at all. The doctor that did the knee surgery did nerve damage, but WC went after me when I did not recover promptly instead of the doc. No treatments early on, etc, the normal story. It has been 10 years last October and I am still fighting with them. Anyway without making this into a long story, I was just wondering about Cymbalta and any thoughts would be appreciated. Guest guest
Cymbalta is a psyche med as well as a pain med that deals more with the nerves as I was explained. I have been on it since October, and it helps with the depression and all, but I have not noticed that it does a thing for the pain.
Guest guest
Hi....I've been on Cymbalta for about couple of months now and it does help me with depression but not with pain. I only take 60mg of it so maybe a higher dose may help with the pain...I'm just guessing. I hope something helps your pain. Good luck to you. Guest guest
Hi, My husband is on Cymbalta. It was started for pain management and also for depression. I think and he also agrees that it has helped with the depression. He seems to realize that there is stuff happening around him now - he did not before - he seemed to have no idea of what needed to be done or what he should do with his time before - or how his depression was effecting the whole family - I think this has been an improvment. But it has not helped w/pain. Though he has a good point that sometimes since these meds don't stop the pain that it is hard to know how much of an improvement they've had until you stop them. It is expensive - it is not part of the approved formulary and so we pay $30/month for it. But I figure we are lucky because I know it costs well over $100 if we had no insurance. Take care, Kath
Guest guest
Hello Beth, I take Cymbalta and have for about a year and a half. It has improved my temperment some...but has done nothing for the pain in my back. The dr. told me it is a good antidepressant for people in chronic pain. I had some kind of shots in my back about 5 yrs. ago and they did nothing but make me sick. The third in the series was the worst. I swore then I would never let a dr. touch me with another needle in my back as long as I live. But, don't go by me alone. There are some people who have had great success with the shots. Everyone reacts differently. My brother is also on Cymbalta and it has helped his disposition tremendously. He was an ugly cuss and is torlorable now. That's about all the info. I can give you. Take care, And good luck, you'll be fine. donna

About the weight gain, though, everything I have read about it states that it should cause weight LOSS if anything at all. Anybody else?
