Guest guest Posted June 28, 2000 Report Share Posted June 28, 2000 Sabula is on the Mississippi north of Davenport. She is about 1/2 hour out of Clinton and 1 1/2 hour from Davenport. It is a very small town. I think it's quite a distance from Des Moines, like all the way across the state. Don't know how long it takes but maybe by next time you'll feel up to travelling and we can meet somewhere in between. We are starting out in Chicago and driving out to my son's in the western suburbs and then on to my daughters so we have to split the time. There won't be time to fit in an extra trip this time. Since we just got back from vacation I'm not looking forward to traveling again but maybe by then. We are also going to a trade show in Las Vegas the end of July - we are going to have a booth in it. I get tired thinking about all this, that's why we decided to stay how this coming 4 day weekend. We might go square dancing though, there are a couple we could go to. Is there somewhere fun to go in between? It's always so boring at my daughters such a small town. Course when the kids are in t ball and stuff that's fun to watch. Gosh I only get to see my grandchildren once a year. I pay a big price for our sunshine, warm weather, low humidity, and lack of misquitos. My body just doesn't like those things, that's why I'm so far from my family. Every time we travel I'm so glad to get back to our climate. We'll have to tentively plan on next year. As far as walking, good grief--you guys do a lot of square dancing, which I am sure is a lot more exercise and better for you physically and mentally than just plain walking. You two take care. I will let you know when she goes there, they have to get her more stabilized first since her surgery to remove the benign tumor. Phil and I are arriving in Chicago on Aug 12 and then will go to Iowa around the 15th and home on the 19th. My son lives in Dekalb Il with his wife and 3 children and my daughter lives in Sabula with her husband and two daughters. Since things have been so hectic for me I decided to come back on Saturday instead of Sunday so I didn't have to go back to work the next day. Looks as though it might be difficult to get together this trip. But we go there at least once a year. I hope the doctors can find a solution to your med problems. I was getting concerned about not hearing from you. Things have been so crazy here since we got back from Baltimore. I have finally caught up at work. Today we had a meeting with the attorney for our salesmen who are buying the business. Phil and I aren't buying into but went as advisors since I handle the booking for the company and Phil just sold a company and we are starting another, I think we were helpful to them. I found out the state fair is during that time but she said it would be hard to get a motel now and didn't seem too interested. I don't feel like we can go if they can't because we have to split the time between the two kid and we won't be in Iowa on the weekend since we are going back on Saturday. Looks like we won't be able to do it this time but maybe next time we can allow a little extra time.
