Hi All,

My daughter is 3.5 years old. She has been constipated since she turn 1

but it got very bad when she turned 2. She was on and off of Miralax for almost

a year until January when thing got so bad that her pediatrician decided to put

her on Miralax permanently. My husband and I noticed some changes in her

behavior. She seems hiper and she seems to have a hard time concentrating. We

could not say this it because of the Miralax, it could be her age. I have always

been concern about Miralax until last night finally went and looked at some

information. Now I feel horrible, but I only did what the doctor told me, he

said that is was safe and that goes right through the system. We took we off

Miralax 3 days ago. I noticed her stool are getting harder and I need ideas. She

always eat fruit and vegetables and we have a healthy diet but that did not help

in the past. Her poop will get to hard that she will hold them for days and it

was always a nightmare to get her to go potty. All that improve with Miralax but

we do not want to continued that. She loves milk and dairy, we limit them but

she still has 1 cup or 2 of milk each day. Here are some of my questions:

- What is a good alternative for cows milk?

- Dietary supplements that will help her bowel movements (e.g magnesium)

- How long does it take for Miralax to get out of your system? Is there a way to

accelerate this process?

- Are the side effects of Miralax permanent?

THANKS for your help. I feel so lucky to have found this gruop.

Ana
