Pride is the first thing to go. I don't have a cane. I think I

need to think about getting one though. Today scared the me a bit.

Margot, I bet it did scare you. I had a scare and I got a cane. I then had to get a 4 prong cane, I don't like it as well. Then I have my trusty walker which is my lifesaver on my BAD days. I wear a cooling vest that looks dorky as all get out. But I don't care, it helps me and that's all that matters. I'm #1 and I have to take care of me. It's that adjusting your attitude thing I had to learn....lol

I'm a major believer in Canadian crutches-those forearm ones. I tried a cane,

and I never felt really in control and stable, because the cane could move under

my hand. With the Canadian crutch you have a cuff on your forearm, you hold onto

the handle, and the cane becomes an extension of your arm. I can't tell you how

many falls they've saved me. Not to mention the posture improvement from a

walker..

I always felt wobbly with a cane too-if I was going to fall, I couldn't

stabilize the cane to stabilize ME! I can't tell you how much the crutches have

helped in my walking. And the posture improvement seeps over into when I'm

sitting or walking around the house w/o crutches as well. I'd advise checking

w/doc for PT prescription and getting evaluated for them.
