Welllllllllllllll, we could be like certain types of people and

believe that hair is a sign of our femininity, or those that let it

grow because the men like it! Seriously the best way I have found to

do it is to sit on the side of the bathtub and shave away. I cannot

take showers because I faint so this the only way that works for me. I

thought about putting my leg in the sink because you could see it all

but I can't get my leg up there. I have tons of dark hair so it is

shave everyday or wear jeans.

All of you fair skinned people and light colored hair people just

better thank God above for your blessings because all of us dark

haired people have tons of hair and it always shows! Isn't it nice to

talk about something besides serious things for a change? I kind of

liked it for a few minutes to think about something so mundane as

shaving. What a blessing that has been! thanks Gwen

Hi Kayla,

I usually ask my husband to shave my legs for me!!! With the way my

back is, I am unable to get into a tub, so that way would be out of

the question! But when I have to do it by myself, I usually try to

sit on the sink and put my leg on the toilet so I can get from the mid

calf and up.

The way I get from the mid calf down is .... I sit on the side of my

bed, put one leg at a time on the bed, and start with my feet!!!!! Oh

, I forgot to tell you, I use an electric razor.

I have course hair, very dark, very thick, and there is a lot of

it!!! ,LMAO

I have also had my son do from the knees down if I can't sit on the

bed with my legs up that day. I have gotten to the point that I hurt

too frickin bad to worry about the hair on my legs, and I have told

Tom that he can shave them more often if he is unhappy with my legs!!

And I wear long pants a lot, unless it's really warm, then I just

don't care and wear shorts anyway!!!!!

Huggs to you,

Sandy

I have a shower seat. It is the only way I can take a shower/bath these

days. I use Nair and put my legs one at a time on the side of the tub and wipe

them down after the time is up. If you do not have a shower seat, you may want

to consider one, best damn investment I have made in all the equipment I need

lol.

" I gave up on shaving years ago. I used depilatory creams and

lotions. Like Nair, Neet, Veet extra. "

I've tried those and found they A-don't work for me, or b-irrate my skin

( i have very sensitive skin). But thanks for replying, maybe its time

ot try again.

All this talk about hair reminded me of a story my mom has always told me.

I was the first child, and it was 1953 so back then women had children while

under med and then saw their child later that day or night. When I was brought

into my mom she started crying and crying as she thought there must have been a

mistake. I had hair everywhere, as lots of babies do, but I had an excessive

amount. My face, my back and my arms had long black hair.

Of course a lot of it left as I got older but I have always had tons of black

hair on my arms, caused a lot of hurtful comments when I was a teen. In fact

one day I was so sick of it, I shaved one entire arm, fingers and all. Of

course that meant I had to wear long sleeves because immediately it started to

grow back in. And it also looked ridiculous as one arm had hair and one did not.

Also back them girls alotof times could not shave their legs until they were

out of high school in some regions of the world. I was not allowed to shave

until 7th grade. Also back then at least in my school (public) girls were not

allowed to wear jeans until my senior year and then only November through March.

So of course I had to be teased continually because I was not allowed to shave

but once a week, so you can imagine what it looked like.

I am now a mom of a teen girl and she can shave, use creams, whatever she

wants, and how often she wants. Funny thing how things change in just a short

time.

Feel free to laugh at all of my crazy things I did. I ahve learned to laugh

and maybe that is why I went thourgh all of that. I sure learned how to laugh

at myself, which has helped alot through all of this pain. Gwen

You know what you guys are so in touch. Just this last Sunday night my

husband said to me " man when was the last time you shaved your legs? " My

response was, " when my back don't hurt I will shave. " He just looked at

me and said I guess you are going to start going " l'natural. " I guess

so !!!!!!

I try like heck at times but it just hurts too much to bend and twist to

get them shaved and I end up missing spots and I give up. It is cool here

now (I live in AZ) but come summer I am going to have to do it because

long pants are not an option on a 120 degree day. I am going to try that

stuff " nair and stuff " to see if I can get it to work for me. My hair is

course and black too. The tough kind to just forget about.

My daughter though she doesn't hve to shave at all her hair is blond and

so fine. She told me the other day she doesn't shave and hasn't for a

long long time. She lives in PA and she is wearing long pants too but she

doesn't care and in the summer wears shorts and bathing suits. Some

people have all the luck.....

Oh boy, I guess I still think a little differently having been raised in a

country where women didn't shave. A lot of them do nowadays, but there are

still a lot of them that don't.

I think that if I'm in that bad of shape, I would just forget about shaving,

too. To hell with people, if they don't like it, they don't have to look at

me.

Funny thing is, just last year I saw a younger gal that worked at a nursery

who had big ol' bushes under her arms. It's been a while since I've seen

that....lol, this is probably grossing out some of the people here...

Those products have come a long way in the last couple of years. Now instead of

20 minutes on the skin, they take 4 or 5 and actually remove the hair.

I have super touchy skin, so right after I use one of the depilatories, I smooth

a very thin coat of cortisone cream over my skin. Takes care of any owies

before they get a chance to give me grief.
