Guest guest
It is my understanding that if the bilirubin is elevated, it is a clear indication that it was caused by the medication. They would always point out that it wasn't elevated and that's what they were looking for if it was doing any kind of damage. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilirubin To: miralax Sent: Sat, June 25, 2011 10:01:06 PMSubject: Can PEG affect lab results My son just had lab testing done for multiple things and the only thing that concerned the Dr. was "elevated Bilirubin". Which due to my sons chronic constipation/irregularity he is sending him to a Gastro. So it made me wonder since it hadn't been too long since we had tried the Miralax if it could have affected this testing or even caused the "elevated bilirubin". Does anyone know anything about this. Guest guest
So since he isn't on these medications now it wouldn't affect the test? > > It is my understanding that if the bilirubin is elevated, it is a clear > indication that it was caused by the medication. Guest guest
No, I disagree, we are seeing urinary symptoms as well as kidney, liver, spleen, neuro, etc. as far as 10 years later. The problem with PEG is, once the medication is stopped, the symptoms still reside, for years laterTo: miralax Sent: Sun, June 26, 2011 2:24:44 PMSubject: Re: Can PEG affect lab results So since he isn't on these medications now it wouldn't affect the test? > > It is my understanding that if the bilirubin is elevated, it is a clear > indication that it was caused by the medication. Guest guest
Sorry if you mistook what I said. I wasn't stating that is what I thought. But asking if that is what you meant. So basically what you're saying is the PEG could have contributed to the elevated Bilirubin? Right? Also wondering do you only see this with the Miralax (PEG) or any product containing PEG? Or haven't you went into that yet? > > > > It is my understanding that if the bilirubin is elevated, it is a clear > > indication that it was caused by the medication. Guest guest
Please go over these with a fine tooth comb..............they're all there................GoLytely, NuLytely, HalfLytely, Movicol, Colace, Glycolax. They all show the same side affects, long after the medication is stopped. You WILL find the bilirubin on there as well. To: miralax Sent: Mon, June 27, 2011 12:31:52 AMSubject: Re: Can PEG affect lab results Sorry if you mistook what I said. Guest guest
Thank you for this I will look through it very closely. One question what is safe for constipation? We even tried Inulin (Metamucil) and it caused stomach aches. What about Benefiber? Is it safe? I worry about what the Gastro will suggest when we go and want to be prepared. So I know what not to try. I also want to try that lemonade everyone talks about. For the acidosis that is. Would it be appropriate for my son with the Elevated Bilirubin? Thanks again? > > > > > > It is my understanding that if the bilirubin is elevated, it is a clear > > > indication that it was caused by the medication.
