Guest guest
I have been popping pain pills, and I'm black and blue where I landed. My right bottom, leg, and shoulder look a mess. The joys of living in NY, why I stay in this area I don't know. I hate winter anymore. Thanks for writing. Nessa
Guest guest
Oh Nessa!! I'm so sorry you fell on the ice and hurt yourself! I hope you didn't suffer any serious injuries! I live in fear of doing just that every single winter. I've done it several times in the past, usually right on my backside. Now, though, with all of the problems I have in my lower back/SI area, I'm REALLY afraid that another fall would be a very bad thing. I live in Ohio, where the weather is unpredictible at best, and the last time we got a good snow, it started to melt some, then it got really cold again. Needless to say, the largest parts of our parking lots at work were like sheets of ice. My company plows the lots, but they only put down salt around the entrances. So I walked really slow, and took tiny little baby steps, but I still slid a few times, making my heart race. All the while, I'm chanting in my head " please don't fall, please don't fall! " . I hope you are starting to feel better now, and that your pain meds are actually controlling the pain. Have you also been icing the area to reduce inflammation? I've always been told to use ice for the first few days, and then to start alternating heat and ice after that. Has something to do with stimulating blood flow to the injured area or something like that. Anyway, I hope you recover and are back to " normal " soon. All my best, Jen
