Jeanie -Since it's a neuro disorder, I would doubt there's a cure, as in a drug. But as we know from the gut/brain connection, anything a parent can do to heal the brain will help with PANDAS symptoms. Magnesium, calcium, iodine...all that should help heal the damage done by the strep. Tracie Does anyone know if there's a cure for this autoimmune disorder? Or how they treat it? http://www.adhd.com.au/PANDAS.htm

It's treated with antibiotics, sometimes steroids, sometimes ivig, and some folks are having good luck with homeopathy... There is a book out (I've not read it) called saving sammy that details one boy's story and treatment...Sent from my HTC Evo 4G on the Now Network from Sprint!----- Reply message -----Date: Sat, Apr 9, 2011 11:23 amSubject: PANDASTo: " miralax " <miralax >

You know this is another argument I have with my doctor. They seem to be so adiment about finding out if it's strep, but yet they only do the rapid test in the office and only on occasion, send it off for a culture for the other strain, strep B? Does anyone know why this is? Wouldn't they both cause Rheumatic fever and or PANDAS if let untreated?

No, not necessarily at all. Lots of people get strep without ever developing either. As Tracie said PANDAS is autoimmune asd is PITANDS. There is no super definitive test for PANDAS for example. You can do ASO titers and an AntiDNase, but you can have a normal titer and still have PANDAS. You can get a CAM Kinase test for further clarification. Thanks Monika, but the point is, they act like it's a MUST to treat if it's strep but they never send off for the Strep B? How many streps went by that they didn't catch it IF they didn't bother to send in the culture? If it's such a priority, why don't they do the rapid test AND send it off for the Strep B? It's condradicting what they're saying? I've brought this up to my Physician and he really doesn't have an answer? Which makes me think I've got him cornered! And makes me suspicious of what the real story is..................Any insight?
