Guest guest
Of course this is nothing new to many of you, I'm sure. To me, well it was a first. I have to tell you that I'm an avid hiker and walker and I am used to getting around rather quickly. My foot started hurting last week and I cannot for the life of me rememberif I somehow hurt it. I did a few months back, I dropped something on it, but that was a long time ago. Anyway, it's getting worse and worse, now it's a little bruised and swollen, just about where my toes begin, the same height of my bunion. Hmmm, I wonder if it's the bunion causing this, it's never done this before, though. So we went to Wally World and I was going to stay in the Jeep at first, but then decided to go. I could barely walk so I used one of those wheelchairs and hubby pushed me. I did get some looks, mostly curious from little kids. One lady looked a little upset 'cause Mark almost ran her over, so couldn't blame her...;-) On a more serious note, though, I am so thankful that I don't have to be in a wheelchair, I honestly don't know if I could handle it. I think it takes A LOT of courage and self control, and I don't know what else. I don't know that I would have it. You are all so brave, just wanted to tell you that. Guest guest
Hi Marita Has your physician examined your foot? It could be a hairline fracture, and needs to be examined. Sometime those kind of fractures take awhile to show up. At the very least stay off it, and keep it elevated. An ace wrap bandage around it will help too. Use crutches or a cane when you have to walk. If you can't afford crutches, check with Goodwill or one of those agencies for a free one. No one wants to be in a wheel chair. They have made amazing strides with wheel chair development. Have you seen the ones a person can play tennis or basketball in? There is one that climbs steps too. Unfortunately, the new ones are very expensive. I hope they can drop the prices soon. Kaylene Moderator My foot started hurting last week and I cannot for the life of me rememberif I somehow hurt it. I haven't decided which doctor I will be using, yet. We moved back here a little over a year ago and I don't want to use the doctors in our little town. Long story....so I have been avoiding going to the doctor at all. Plus, there's also the money issue. Even though I have insurance through Mark (TriCare), we always have to pay something and with me not working it gets kinda tight. >> An ace wrap bandage around it will help too. I've been walking putting weight on the outside of my foot only, which is not that great, either, because now that part is getting sore. If it's not getting better very soon I will have to go see a doctor for sure. >> No one wants to be in a wheel chair. They have made amazing strides with wheel chair development. I hope that someday those fancy ones will be affordable for everybody, not just for people with money. Marita

Marita, My insurance paid 85% of the cost of my power wheelchair. I don't know about Tricare but, if your doctor gives you a letter of medical necessity they may cover part of it. At least they should cover the cost of renting one until you find out if your ankle can be fixed.

There was just no way yesterday that I could walk through WalMart with my foot hurting every time I bend my toes. My foot better get back to the way it was before, I'm fully expecting that....;-)I gladly keep my bunions that act up every once in a while, that's nothing like this.
