Guest guest
Hello, everyone, Lefty here, also known as /NewYork. My doctor and I had that conversation, you know, the one where he tells me to rest, rest, and more rest. He wants me to take muscle relaxants and rest both my legs and my arms, so, if you don't hear from me these next few days, I'll hopefully be in bed resting. Fat chance of that happening, but I'll give it a shot. I have to, I'm extremely sick and tired of all the setbacks I've been having. After resting in bed for a year and a half, well, I don't like to stay in bed longer than I have to. I was " resting " at the Northern Westchester Hospital Center from September, 1995 to March, 1997, for that " on the job " injury I had and still have. So, you can see I get a bit antsy about bed rest. Even during my last hospital stay in 2004, I couldn't stay in bed for more than two days, I couldn't use those bed pans, so I waited until late at night to use the bathroom, believe me, I tried not to go, but when nature calls, ha,ha,ha. I " paid for it too " , my lumbar hurt worse that night. When I went to the emergency room, they gave me Morphine, and it didn't help at all! They then had me taken to x-ray and called my Neurosurgeon, he confirmed my back problem to the ER Dr , who thought I was there just for drugs. My doctor straigthened his butt out. I had to wait several hours before they could give me a pain killer that worked great, it was demerol, every six hours. The following day, I was taken to get an MRI on the Lumbar to confirm the fractures. And additional problem, called an osteophyte on level four. I had two additional fractured vertabrea's that time in my Lumbar at L-4 And L-5 area's, they were in each facet joint(the part that you can feel when you touch your back), that was the operation that was supposed to remove( cutt away part of the facet joint's to relieve pressure on the nerve roots) both facet joints and replace them with cages and rods and more screws. I decided not to go through with it. I chose a more conservative approach. I just did several month's of intensive physical therapy then. I'll wait until five o'clock, then call my Pharmacist to see if they got the prescription faxed to them, I will have to get them, since the girlfriend is still at work and wont be home until after they close their doors. It is only a few blocks, so I'll, put on the braces and walk real slow. Take my medicine and hope for the best. Take care and enjoy your day, also try to be as pain free as possible. / New York
