Guest guest
From: " Everette Lee Herndon, Jr. " <herndon@...> Subject: Re: Senate testimony : I did attend the hearing. It was standing room only. About 1/2 to 3/4 of the audience of about 200 people appeared to be mold victims. : Testimony went well. The panels were: : : 1. Overview of Mold : Brockovich : , Knopfler & on : Sandy McNeel, Research Scientist, CA Dept of Health, Enviro. Health Inspection Branch : Barbara Spark, Indoor Air Program Coordinator, EPA, Region 9 : : 2. Mold and their Human Health Implications : Dr. Eckardt Johanning : Dr. Abba Terr : Dr. Craner : Honorable beth Krant : : 3. Adequacy of Current Institutional Responses to Mold : on : Sonke, Archstone Mgt. Co. : Bob Raymer, Ca. Building Industry Assn. : Ron Kingston, Ca. Realtors Assn. : Diane Colborn, Pesonal Insurance Federation of Ca. : Debra Carlton, Ca. Apartment Assn. : : Nothing new or startling. The only " dissenters " were Dr. Terr, of San Francisco who stressed the lack of scientific proof of causality. Also, of course, Sonke, Kingston, and Carlton who all basically said they were trying to be good guys, but that the building occupants had some responsibility too for maintenance and notifying of problems and that too much regulation might adversely affect the housing availability market and put some owners out of business. (Not very persuasive arguments) : : Dr. Craner had a ton of info and a very impressive power-point type presentation of which he could only get in a small percent because of time limitations. But his whole presentation (text) as well as anything the others wanted to present in writing could and would be presented to the Committee in writing for consideration. : : Here is the link to an article in the Sacramento Bee today (3-8-01) about the hearing. : : http://www.sacbee.com/ib/news/ib_news03_20010308.html : " Activist's new fight hits home: Brockovich targets mold " : By LePage, Bee Staff Writer, (Published March 8, 2001) : : The Committee had a number of handouts available for the general public.
