Guest guest
Yeah! Makes me want to avoid mammograms and CT scans! Look how much radiation people get in the name of diagnostics. Also makes me want to take precautions when flying, like have antioxidant-rich foods. Hi All,My son just sent me this. I still think that these statistics aren't absolutes, as every decade more is understood about maximum dosages of harm and benefit for many substances, but it's something to check out. (I mean, look at the harmful pharma, food additives, and environmental pollutants that are deemed harmless by the powers that be.) Be well,LénaSubject: Re: radiation remedies This chart can help put the radiation numbers in context:http://xkcd.com/radiation/ The media has been doing a horrendous job of reporting this story... " Radiation Detected!!! Oh No!!! " but they don't follow up with the comparison to typical exposures (like eating bananas).

Guest guest
Hi Lena, Wow 40 milliseverts of radiation for one cross country flight. I wonder if this counts the airport scanner into the equation. Can you imagine how much airline pilots and flight attendants are exposed. I wonder if anyone has done studies on the long term effects and whether there is an increase in thyroid cancer rates of flight attendants and pilots. > > Hi All, > My son just sent me this. Guest guest
Hi ,And people wonder why the incidence of cancer is ever increasing! Duh!I just sent some bulk modifilan to my son and DIL for the little ones...just in case. sigh.Meanwhile, we'll be in the demonstration April 11 in Albany, trying to fight the natural gas-fracking behemoths. I notice all the 'clean natural gas' ads are increasing their mendacious propaganda. T. Boone Pickens is drawling away about its virtues, ignoring the poisoned aquifers, the benzine that has shown up as much as 200 miles away from drill sites, the gas industry's toxic smog that now requires the big-outdoors-seeking families in Montana to stay indoors quite often, the boom (short-term jobs for imported workers) and bust (degraded real-estate values, ruined roads and toxic wells in the ghost-towns remaining) But I DO go on so! This is the age of daunting odds against health and justice.Be well,LénaHi Lena,Wow 40 milliseverts of radiation for one cross country flight.
