Guest guest
Leona, How much does your Rx of urso cost for a month's supply? When I have my next appt. with the hepatologist I will ask about it. Guest guest
I'm doing that thing that Aubrey hates but I'm pressed for time and my computer is acting up... Leona..with all respect to your Dr., I would question how much time he has put into actually finding out what Milk Thistle or any other herbal remedy does....Look into it yourself and I think you will find it is well worth taking. Most medical Dr.'s don't have the time or interest to really research alternatives, certainly never coming up with the reliable and valid info that this group has. I would really hate to see you stop taking it, it won't hurt and 'what if' it actually helps and you miss out on that. Please rethink that decision. Guest guest
Barby, Phil takes 2 tablets 3 times a day of Actigall which is essentially the same as URSO which isn't the highest dose given but it is on the high side. I truly believe that it has helped to keep his bile flowing. Last year he had 4 infections within 3 months and after being on the Actigall went a whole year before having another infection. He doesn't have any side effects except hair loss (not balding but just making his hair very thin). We wanted Phil to get listed so that if he took a turn for the worse he'd be on the list and could be pushed up to a higher status. As you know the testing to get on the list takes months. We do hope he doesn't get to the point of needing a transplant for some time. When he got listed, the UNOS regs took time on the list into consideration so that was another reason we wanted him listed. If you are called for transplant you can refuse it at that time and wait for a later on, Tim did that. I'm not sure with the changes UNOS has made if the time on the list counts any more. Just our opinion. Peg, wife of Phil (57), UC 30 years, dx PSC 12/98, listed-status 3-UCLA-2/2000, living Los Angeles suburbs, CA

Guest guest
Barby I have since read alot of posts that answered your questions....I am always late in getting back to people...sorry.... I have noticed that everyone takes more that Ty...it could be because he takes alot of other meds....and a couple of them are pretty heavy duty....such as cyclosporin...Ty sees his docs at the end of this month and gets his labs done next week....I will have to ask his docs.... Guest guest
Cheryl, I haven't experienced any of the symptoms you describe after taking Urso. However I had a colectomy many years ago for UC so can't have those. Seems to me that just having teenagers would be enough to have a tender tummy!!! I have 3 teenagers right now and understand completely!! I think my stress level will drop significantly when the oldest 2 leave for college in 3 weeks. Do you see the smile on my face???? lol Blessings, Barby married 20 years, mom of 5 sons- KS UC - dx in 1965 (11yo), ostomy 1972, BCIR (continent ostomy)1994 PSC- dx in 1999
