Would you believe THREE YEARS AGO!!!!!!!...But unfortunately that's not the

whole story. I was in the hospital for 14 days and the very day I came home I

fell and broke my leg/ankle and that's the end of the story. I have had a

second surgery on the ankle to remove some of the arthritis....but still not

able to walk. The ankle slasher wants me to have physical therapy for the

third time....so I go for a Functional Capacity Test on the 20th. Then we will

see. I have a long painful history with physical therapy. The first time

the therapist was new and when I told her my ankle felt pretty good she said I

could go for indefinite repetitions of the exercises. So I did 80 and hurt the

ligaments. That meant 6 months in bed. Then the second therapy after the

second surgery I was doing my exercises at home and was doing the one where I

make a circle with my ankle. I was watching a very interesting TV show and

forgot I was exercising so I did it for an HOUR!!! The next day I couldn't

walk......6 more months in bed. I had an ultrasound that showed the tendons and

ligaments had turned black which meant they were badly injured. So for the

last 8 months I have been unable to do any therapy and am supposed to be in bed.

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tina...I didn't realize you were a nurse. How does that work for you as far

as having fibro? Do you feel you understand more or know more? Or were you

born stupid like me? LOL I have read tons of books on fibro and chronic

pain and chronic fatigue. But I sometimes think that common sense and listening

to my body will help me just as much as those books. I can't exercise yet,

because I had an ankle transplant....but I'm still hopeful.

Right now, with a's help , I am happily investigating getting a bird!

Excitement!! Hugs, Camilla

Hi Tina,

Do you have any problems with the Neurontin? Have you ever tried Topamax?

I was just wondering because I see the neurosurgeon tomorrow and I feel I

need to be on one of those. I was on Neurontin before, but when I lost my

insurance I couldn't afford to pay for it any more.

gentle hugs,

-- RE: TRACY

Hi ,

Welcome to the group. I take Klonopin 1mg, Zanaflex 8mg to help me sleep. I

also take Neurontin 3600mg a day which helps me to rest too.

Hello from a new member

Hi,

Just wanted to introduce myself and ask everyone a question. My

name is and I am a professional artist. I have had fibromyalgia

for 8 years. The most troubling aspect for me has been the sleep

disorder that has come along with it.

I have been on trazadone for a couple of years and it has stopped

working for me. I was wondering how many here are taking medications

to hit rem sleep, what kind and how they are working for you.

Thanks,

1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list

as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your

dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well

as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general.

2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't

be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that

situation better.

Have a nice day everyone.

Tina....I think that is a song all of us sing. I no longer get season tickets

to anything because I miss more than I go to. At first I was furious about it.

Now I am a bit more philosophical and tell myself that any concert I want to go

to I can probably get last minute tickets. But usually at night the pain is

worse and I would rather stay home with my cats and the heating pad. LOL

I'm New

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last year. It is possible I have

been living with this for 7 years, the problem is with all the

doctors I saw no body was able to figure out the problem. I am 40

years old and feel that I have no controll over anything. I am unable

to plan outings because I do not know if I will be able to go.

I have a wonderful husband that helps all of the time (He had a hip

replaced in Sept. 2002)I also have my mother living with us.(She has

severe arthritis and needs a wheel chair) I have two kids (girl 23

and boy 17) that help with things. I also have my duaghter's fiance

and my 4 year old grandson living in the house. They all help

tremendously but I feel so guilty that I am unable to do the things a

duaghter, wife, mother, and grandmother are suppose to do. I cannot

do laundry or cook. I cannot go to the store by myself. I try to do

some things around the house but I pay for it later. We all try to

keep a sense of humor which helps but you can't keep that up all of

the time. I hate being so dependent on others. When I was a kid I was

in sports, as I got older I helped by working at 14 after my father

died but now I can barely make it through work. I get home and go to

bed, some life I lead.
