Guest guest
Great info! I just saw a very interesting smoothie recipe with beets and carrots. I will post it for u!Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerrySender: miralax Date: Thu, 19 May 2011 08:36:55 -0700 (PDT)To: <miralax >ReplyTo: miralax Subject: Re: Enzymes Typically, a piece of fruit first thing in the morning on an "empty" stomach is considered very good and helpful for digestion. Also, recently a friend of mine who suffers from constipation gave me about 8oz of juiced beet and carrots. Let me preface this by saying that I am very luck where digestion is concerned...never really had any issues. And my system is VERY sensitive so most things affect me almost immediately. Without being graphic here, let me just say the juice made me even more regular. I wonder if anyone here has tried beet juice with their children. It's got a semi-sweet taste. I did try to give my DD a sip of it and although she liked the first taste, she wasn't interested in finishing the little bit I gaveher.Anyway...food for thought :)To: miralax Sent: Wed, May 18, 2011 2:25:29 PMSubject: Re: Enzymes He LOVES mango but I have been trying to be careful about not "combining" melons with citrus fruit or carbs or protein, etc... You can google it. It makes good sense to me). So I guess I have been trying to give his body all the help that I can. Eating mango would void this concept. Hmmmm. Decisions, decisions. (Heavy sigh). But I could try the pill form of enzymes. Couldn't hurt. Might help. Guest guest
Hi ,How do we find out if candida is an issue? My son had a stool test done by the GI doc and the did say that he had "some yeast" but that they were not concerned about it as "everyone" has some yeast. I wasn't really sure what I should do with that comment or how to find out if the AMOUNT he had in his stool was really too much or enough to consitute a yeast problem, that could be causing bloating? Also, they did the Pancreatic Elastase (sp?) test and he was not "Low" but he was right on the border of being low/normal... BARELY in the "normal" range. Again- they said not worry about it but again... makes me wonder if this is something I should be concerned about and why he WOULD be low?Also- you mentioned that their diet is limited, and that you don't want them to eat too much meat. Are they able to eat hemp seeds, chia seeds, goji berries and/or quinoa? All 3 of these are vegan and high in protein. The chia seeds can really be hid in just about ANYTHING. I can give you some simple recipe ideas, if you need any. Here is some info for you. Hope that helps! http://www.healthy-soul.com/raw-vegan-protein.htmlhttp://www.worldofdiets.com/goji-berry-protein-and-antioxidants-rich-source/On May 19, 2011, at 11:28 AM, B wrote: Hi ~ sorry did not get a chance to get on yesterday. We do have complains of waking up in the morning with stomach aches and feeling nauseas. Still haven't figured that out. And we don't have complains of urine stinging or hurting as much. If the kids eat something with gluten or dairy the enzyme is helping them with that too. They don't have stomach aches and still have a BM. But they don't eat gluten and dairy hardly at all, maybe at party so they can still be kids once a while:)! But overall they are adjusting well to our life change. Oh Jeanie~ we can't avoid all the high oxalate foods because they are already on a strict diet so they need to grow too. So I am being careful what I give them and don't put too many on the same day. Guest guest
Hi Marie! Ok, where to begin with my Candida revelation!!!! I have for 2 years been on a roller coaster ride from hell! My oldest son has ADHD and I have know since little he has it. But over time he was getting worst. We tried adhd medicines for school because being a school teacher I see both worlds. I want my son to succeed and feel good abt himself. And to hear your son tell you at the age of 6 (2 yrs. ago) "I don't want to be this boy anymore, I want to be like everyone else" breaks your heart. Anyway, to make a long story short the medications would work and then they would not. Something was not right and I constantly told the pediatrician but he didn't listen. So I would search and search on line for answers. This is how I found this group and about Candida and parasites. So traditional doctor's do not believe in candida as a problem or becoming a problem. They are not on board with this at all. My own cousin who I am close to, is an orthopedic surgeon. When I told him what is happening with my children, his response was "you have anxiety, you need to see a doctor for medicine." Unreal, I have test results that show what my children have and no one can tell me any different! Our pediatrician called me crazy and that my kids look great! My kids looked sickly not great! So I found and luckily have a homeopath group near by our home hear in land. It is a great group! People come from all over to see this group. So she sent my children's urine to Great Plain's Lab. and their stool to Metametrix Lab. These are not FDA approved labs or tests so traditional doctor's don't use these places. The test results showed up high yeast overgrowth for my 8 yr old son and my 4 yr old daughter. My 6 yr old does not have it. And my daughter's belly has been soooo extended for a while until the past couple of days. I really think it is the candida. Candida can cause bloating and gas. So now my daughter is taking Nystatin like her brother but she is not at the full dose yet. She will be next Thursday. We start at 1/2 tsp and increase at every 4 days until we reach 1tsp 3 times a day. But my oldest reached it today. And they do this for 6 weeks as long as their die off is not bad and everyone is okay. After that we will start with the herbal antifungal with the same process. After all that is done, we will repeat a urine test to see where the yeast levels are. Besides taking the antifungal, we all take a 20 billion probiotic to repair our gut and help with the management of the yeast. FYI~ my younger son's stool showed no yeast so that meant he has no overgrowth. So the good and bad bacteria are balanced out. You said the GI doctor did find yeast in his stool? I also got my children tested for parasites. The boys don't have any, just waiting for my daughter's results. She has had blood in her stool for a while (maybe a year or 2). But the pediatrician kept telling me it's the fissures from the constipation. So we will see what we found out. I would suggest seeing a homeopath doctor. For us, our doctor's goal is to get my children better but also find the root of the problem. Where our regular pediatrician always wants to band aid the problems. And that's how all this happen because of them!!!! I have no trust in regular doctor's at this point! I only trust my children homeopath pediatrician and my homeopath doctor for me. I hope all this information helps you. Do you live here on the east coast? I can give you the information for our doctor. As for my children's diet, yes they can eat the vegan foods. I have been pushing those on them too. We do eat chicken, turkey, fish, and eggs. But they are not too crazy for these foods. We are Greek so gluten and dairy were our world! But I have been trying to adapt the gluten and dairy free items to make the same sort of Greek foods for them. We actually already eat quinoa and I will definitely look into chia seed. They did not take so well to hemp seed and I really wanted them to like it because as you said, it is high in protein. So I would love to have some recipe ideas if you don't mind. I don't want them to eat too much red meat so I am alternating foods around and trying to keep them from being bored too. It was a big change and adjustment for them to stop eating dairy and gluten. Thanks so much for the links!!! I appreciate it! If I can help you more pls let me know! I hope you can get some answers and resolution for your son soon. What is the Pancreatic Elastase? Guest guest
HI Jeanie Sooooo sorry I haven't gotten back to u in several weeks. My dad ended up in the hospital with a very bad case of candida in his mouth and throat. But now I took him to our homeopath and she is treating him for everything and the candida because he has a very bad case of it in his gut too but the hospital would not believe me or treat him for that. They treated him for only his mouth and throat. To make a long story short then after my dad got that my kids all 3 were sick for one week after another and I just could not keep up with all these emails. I am trying to read them all and play catch up here. Way tooo much to read LOL!!! And on top of everything else, I got my result too! WOW! I have candida 2 plus like my son but my daughter has 3 plus. I also have strep in my gut. And a medicine I was on for over a year caused some liver damage but yesterday I got my blood work again and my liver is back in the normal range. I got off the medicine a month ago. TOO MUCH to worry about in this crazy world we live in!!!! As for the enzymes, we take Kirkman's EnZymAidâ„¢ Multi-Enzyme Complex. They have other's too that I was going to ask the doctor about. This one is very good and is working for us. But there are 2 other ones that provide something else to help with constipation and I wonder if my oldest needs that one. But he may not, I will ask the doctor. So we all take the enzymes with every meal. Yesterday, we took the kids out to a restaurant for the first time in a long time and I gave them an enzyme as they started to eat and one after they ate. So we will see how today goes. Hopefully it worked I'll let you know. All four of us were in stomach pains as we ate and when I gave them the enzyme it stopped. My daughter and one son had to go poopy's right away afterwards. I have to read 100 or more emails still!!!!! To: miralax From: dreamjeanie@...Date: Sun, 22 May 2011 03:10:33 -0700Subject: Re: Enzymes , which enzyme are you using? He is also taking Nystatin to attack the Candida so this could be making him go too. Today starts his full dose for 6 weeks and then he will be taking Olive leaf extract for 6 weeks to complete the attack on candida. It took 20 days to get to the full dose. It's a very long and slow process but my son is doing well. And in school he was at the bottom and now he is at the top. His brain fog is gone and he is sooooo happy. He is even trying out for travel soccer next week! For the past 2 years ago my son could not play well and this year, he is the best on his team! Everyone is in amazement! He is a different kid! I have gotten my children back that I once knew. My younger son who was on Peg 3350 for 6 years is going to the bathroom daily on his own. I don't have to give him milk of magnesium. The change in diet and lots of fruit and vegetables and the enzymes have made the difference for him. He does not have candida. I believe Miralax affected him and gave him his problems! He was a normal and healthy child! Both boys bellies have gone done! They don't complain of stomach aches as often too. We do have complains of waking up in the morning with stomach aches and feeling nauseas. Still haven't figured that out. And we don't have complains of urine stinging or hurting as much. But still have cloudy urine especially my middle son. So it looks like the enzyme is helping my children digest and absorb their food properly and to go to the bathroom. I just plan around all this. And I don't want them to eat too much red meat. I give them a lot of fruit and vegetables with a different protein everyday. As for the milk of magnesium question~ I give them the cherry flavor. They have their water bottle ready and they drink it with water right after it. My 4 year old daughter, we have to chase her down but we finally get her to take it. She too has candida so she is having die off right now. She got candida from all the antibiotics and prevacid she was taking for a long time. She never took miralax but she had a very extended belly. It is finally going down now. We have been giving her the milk of magnesium so she could have to the point of diaharia so I do not have to do an enema. And she has been having a BM 1, 2 , and sometimes 3 times a day. I think we have gotten a lot out so far! I think I have answered all the questions I read for me. I hope this info helps. Guest guest
Thanks Jeanie. We are working on getting better! Knock on wood slowly things are moving in the right direction. The school just can't believe the difference in my oldest son with reducing the candida so far. The brain fog is completely lifted and the 5 HTP (for busting his serotonin) has made a huge difference. He is happy and laughing and enjoying life again! My kids in the past 4 - 5 months have really come around with the help of our homeopath! The diet, supplements and vitamins are really making a huge difference in the recovery too! As for the enzyme: It is a capsule with a powder in it and I don't think it comes in chewable. But you can open the capsule to poor the powder into anything (juice, water, etc). This is how my four year old daughter takes it. And my boys 8 yrs. old and 6 yrs. old swallow the capsule. It is not too big. The homeopath doctor's office has a pharmacy in their office so they make the enzyme in a small dark chocolate cube which is dairy and gluten free so the boys can take it to school and no one knows it's an enzyme. And I can avoid having the boys go to the nurse to take it. And it makes life a lot easier when being out and about with my daughter since she can not swallow yet. So update: the enzyme helped my middle son and daughter they were able to have a bowel movement today no problem and twice. But my oldest who has leaky gut, candida, gluten and dairy intolerances and maybe other food intolerances, and was on miralax for 7 years did not have a bowl movement today. The other kids too have leaky gut and dairy and gluten issues etc, but their gut problems are not as bad as my oldest. His gut seems to need more time to repair and heal. I will be talking to the homeopath about his issue. He is the only one that still does not go everyday without the help of Milk of Magnesium. Oh I forgot to tell you, we also found out that my daughter not only has the 3 + candida, she also has a mild case of H Pylori. Hopefully the strong probiotic and Nystatin will take care of it as well as the candida. But we will retest her at the end of July to see how it is going. Another thing, I saw the conversations about the water being acidy. MOM's organic market also has an alkaline water called Evamore. We have been using that and Fiji water. Also ROOTS another organic store has a water machine that you can fill up your own bottles with ionized water for 39 cents a gallon. As for the poll: my boys never had that Keratosis Pilaris even after being on miralax 6 and 7 years. But both boys especially my middle one got a lot of rashes especially around his face and mouth. Guest guest
My dd didn't develop the bumps until years later...................The H Pylori is an bacteria that causes stomach ulcerations. Could be why they are having tummy acheshttp://gicare.com/Diseases/Helicobacter-Pylori.aspx How did they diagnose? How did they recommend to treat? H Pylori is all over the FDA adverse reactions, makes me think it burns the skin leaving the mucus lining open for all sorts of things. I'm also wondering since it's imbedded deep in the tissues, how hard it will be to treat considering it's been coated with a liquid plastic................these poor childrenI'm wondering if this was missed in my child which is why shes so bloated and complains of stomach issues, burning, etc. Call me this week if you get a chance anytime is fineTo: miralax Sent: Sun, June 5, 2011 10:23:48 PMSubject: RE: Enzymes Thanks Jeanie. To: miralax Sent: Wed, May 18, 2011 6:10:19 AMSubject: RE: Enzymes marieI will write more later about the enzymes we are using, I am trying to get things done this morning. But we are using Kirkman Enzymaid Multi-enzyme complex. However, they have 2 other ones that cover more foods than this one. So far we have had good success with this one. I have to go get the kids ready for school but I promise to give you more info later today. Go to kirkman's website to look at their enzymes. Kirkman is gluten, casein, and egg free. It is a good and reliable brand with several others. I hope this helps you for now. The enzymes have made a big difference for my kids and myself! We all have dairy and gluten issues.Talk to u later To: miralax From: gshowalter@...Date: Wed, 18 May 2011 05:24:52 +0000Subject: Enzymes Okay- so after almost 2 weeks of a cleansing diet, with magnesium citrate, castor oil and aloe vera juice... My 5 year old son still has a distended belly. He has increased his BMs from 1x a day to 2 or 3x but that hasn't help eliminate the bloated belly. His only other symptom is a tummy ache upon waking, but only on some mornings. However, it goes away within 30 min or so. The Dr. Mom in me feels that it must be trapped gas, that develops overnight, and is dislodged when he gets up and starts moving around. The odd thing is that he doesn't have a flatulence issue so it's as if the gas stays trapped?? He was on probiotics for the past year and they didn't help the bloating- or they were the wrong kind. I have been keeping a meticulous food diary and can't seem to correlate it with anything he has eaten? I am thinking that we should try enzymes? Or is there just a basic (natural) anti- gas product on the market, for children? Any suggestions? marie Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
