Guest guest
Looking for information from anyone employed by an agency working 12hr shifts on how (or if ?) you get your break periods. I've been trying to research FLSA, State rules/regs regarding whether we should be getting " three " ten to fifteen minute breaks for every four hours we work, or what. Are there agencies that allow a half hour meal period on top of that(is it paid)? Are you allowed to leave the center/building/grounds and run errands - or are you on " beckon call " and are tied to the grounds? All of our dispatchers are on 12hr shifts as of the 1st of this year, and we've had a few " issues " come up about (the lack of) breaks. I'm sure most everyone eats at the console, as we historically have done. We'd like to change this - we're coming up to contract negotiation time and it'd be nice to have some " ammo " to bring to the table. Please - don't tell me to check w/ the union rep - I'm it. ;-) Please reply to me off list at " tac701@... " Thanks in advance! (by the way - are there any other people from Michigan on the list?)
