Looking for information from anyone employed by an agency working 12hr

shifts on how (or if ?) you get your break periods. I've been trying to

research FLSA, State rules/regs regarding whether we should be getting

" three " ten to fifteen minute breaks for every four hours we work, or what.

Are there agencies that allow a half hour meal period on top of that(is it

paid)? Are you allowed to leave the center/building/grounds and run errands

- or are you on " beckon call " and are tied to the grounds?

All of our dispatchers are on 12hr shifts as of the 1st of this year, and

we've had a few " issues " come up about (the lack of) breaks. I'm sure most

everyone eats at the console, as we historically have done. We'd like to

change this - we're coming up to contract negotiation time and it'd be nice

to have some " ammo " to bring to the table.

Please - don't tell me to check w/ the union rep - I'm it. ;-)

Please reply to me off list at " tac701@... "

Thanks in advance!

(by the way - are there any other people from Michigan on the list?)
