Guest guest
I have issues with my right hand. It constantly goes numb and sometime my fingers feel 'wooly' when I'm trying to pick things up. I talked to my surgeon about it and he thinks it's not associated with the TC. I agree with the theory that if the lower part of the spinal cord is being stretched, it's got to have a knock on effect on the upper part. Hey, I'm no expert though!!!! Guest guest
i had that too, turns out i was over compensating my upper body because of my weaker & spastic lower body (i use a walker). my upper spinal column and neck were all out of whack from it. my chiro straightened & stretched me out, now it is gone. i am not saying that is what is wrong with you, that is what was wrong with me. i go see him every other week to keep me straight. rick At 08:55 AM 6/23/2004 +0000, Carey wrote: >I have issues with my right hand. Guest guest
Dear , I have always had problems with my arm, dropping things, right from my earliest memories. Fine finger movements and things like playing the piano and typing (properly) have never been things I could do. My tethering was right at the bottom, and now the cord is higher than it was, but still ends at L4/5 instead of L1/2 as is normal. I got a lot of improvements when my cord was released, but still have many problems. I am no expert, either, but my understanding is that if the cord has been held down and stretched for any length of time, the whole of the cord will have been stretched. I was told that my cord was damaged and that the neurosurgeon could see that my cord was damaged. This was from life, it having been tethered so far down. I still cannot do fine movements and sometimes my co-ordination goes haywire. I hope this helps. Best wishes, , Lincoln, UK
Guest guest
my daughter had completely lost the use of hands and arms slowly over about a years tie and it never did come back after her decompression. she couldn't write her name, feed herself or even scratch her own nose. she was always doing cross stitching and many crafts, she could use her fingers some to walk her hand across a table and moved them enough so she could do a little bit of crafts very slowly, if her hands were placed on the table and crafts put in them. i don't know if they waited to long for her surgery or what. they didn't want to do the surgery , but finally did. it might have improved her head acks a little but not gone ..good luck and lots of love and prayers always. Guest guest
I do believe there can be a Relationship, if you are tightly Tethered, or Tethered higher up. However, when these Symptoms occur, I wouldn't be too quick in thinking that they are related to Tethered Cord. I encourage everybody to get this throughly checked out, and maybe checked out again, before you chaulk it up to Tethered Cord. These Symptoms are not typical Tethered Cord Symptoms, and there is a good possiblity it could be related to something else, even if that something else can be somewhat related to Tethered Cord.
