I have two pain relief tricks; they may not work for others!

First one.. when I had my babies we were taught to sing to ourselves one well

known song (doesn't have to be out loud).

It does seem to distract one's mind from the pain. I still sing the simple song

that I chose then, plus some hymns I like. When the pain is really tough I yell

the hymns out loud!

Second one.. I am a widow and when I need to take my mind off my pain I

visualise my husband and think of how things were and of things he did. You

don't need a dead husband! You could think of anything that is significant

enough to you to fill your mind, maybe something special you achieved and how

you did it.

I bet we all have our own ways of coping.. let's go on sharing them:)

Re: What kind of pain is it?

Oh Boy!!!!!! What a question. Yes to all questions except dealing with

it!!! LOL. Here is what I do....in sequence. First I take 3 Excxedrin

Then I lie in my chair and ask for God's help in dealing with pain. Then

I ask if there is anything I should do. Unfortunately, I don't hear a

voice telling me anything.....but I kind of go with my feelings. I'm in

considerable pain today and I took the Ex. and then prayed. About 15

minutes later I got up and removed all the books off my bed and put them

back in the bookcare.....then I cried hard for about 10 minutes and then I

got the strong feeling to come in the den and check email. It doesn't make

any sense, but that's what I do. Sometimes I nap....but I usually never

call anyone when I feel this bad. I just figure that later on I will

hopefully have some relief. Does this help at all? Love, Camilla

Hi Penny,

I think this is a great idea.

I have used this one many times: visualize yourself in a place that is safe

and comfortable and warm and just makes you feel good.

I always visualize the same thing because it's so calming to me...watching a

sunset in Florida...sitting in a nice comfortable lounge chair and loving that

sunset. This is what works for me.

Anyone else want to contribute?

Kay
