Guest guest
Hi , Yes I am afraid I share your problem. I think it is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) just another facet of good old Fibromyalgia! Penny Shrewsbury UK
Guest guest
I have the bowel problems too. My doc told me it goes along with the fibro. IBS is what its called. Irritable bowel syndrom. So dont feel bad I think most of us suffer from that curse.
Guest guest
, It sounds like you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Many people with Fibromyalgia have it. I have it too. I know some doctors treat it with medicine and some don't. My Mom swears by Equilactin which you can get over the counter. She has it too. Stress will make it worse and some foods can be triggers too. You just have to do a little detective work and keep track of what you eat and when you have symptoms to find out what foods aggravate it and make it worse. You may want to do a internet search to learn more about IBS or I had found some really good books at my public library about it. You may be able to find some at your library. By the way, it isn't a yucky subject. It is just part of this dd. gentle hugs, Sundra -- Beware-Bowel subject! Before I go into my yucky question that I just HAVE TO ask... You guys cracked me up about the losing of your glasses when they are on your head and in the frig...and the " deodorant " body and hair sprays! You people are SO much like me. My kids remember my messups and love to tell everyone about them! Every 3 days or so, I have what I endearingly refer to as my " squirt " days. I'll have hard bowel movements for a couple of days, then the third day is just watery...watery...watery...won't stop for most of the day. I just have to stay home and let the squirts " run " their course, if you know what I mean. So is this something that other fibromyalgia people can identify with? I'm sure the Sjogrens that I have contributes too, but I have read that fibromites have gastrointestinal problems. Thanks for your info...sorrry for the subject! Guest guest
Oh man can I identify with that. This is my third day with it and my stomach feels yukky, too. I'm not sick enough for a doc and I only have Immodium to take....but I sure as heck can't go anywhere......except to the bathroom. I just HATE this because I never know when it is going to hit. Tonight is Haley's dance recital and she will be so upset if I don't go....I mean to the recital!! LOL Yes, this is very definitely a part of fibro. Gosh, I am ready for something nice to happen. Guest guest
Actually this happened to me just two weeks ago. I don't know if it was because I was mixing drinks or it was the shortage of the Ultracet. Anyway, all day I was like you, I was sitting on the toilet trying to go and then the elecricity went out and every one at work all thought I fell into the toilet. I didnt want to say, I am trying to do the " squirt " . Then at about 5:30, it decided to get nasty with me. I was chatting with a friend from work and all of a sudden the gas pain was unbearable. I ran to the potty and of course, didn't make it and thank god I had 15 min left to go home and I had to go to CVS to pick up my refill on the Ultracet and then of course I decided to go to CVS (what a big mistake that was, but i needed my Ultracet or I be in the toilet all night). Anyway, as I proceeded to go in the store it had to go and I asked the lady in CVS to use their bathroom and everything is a complete mess and I tried to clean my self up as best as I could. Then I hurriedly ran to the pick up counter, hoping no one smells this good awful stink!! (I was truly embrassed too). Then I had to hop back into the cab and of course at this point, I was getting really embrassed and I know the cab driver must of smelled this god awful stink. I should of told him to get tons of air freshner, I know the next customer would smell the horrible stinky smell. Then I ran into the apartment. I did a lot more squirts. Everything was a giant mess. Then I put the stuff in the wash, and I should of washed it off before i put it in the washer machine. Anyway, I know if I stop the Ultracet, I would be going non-stop for days. Codeine was like that for me too. If I stop, forget it, I am in there all day long. This is why I hated stopping the codeine for that reason. But after 3-4 days, my body adjusted itself. So don't worry, you are not alone in this " squirt " problem. Ruth Smitycrochet@... Smitycrochet@... Ruth.@...
Guest guest
Bless your heart honey, I can sympathize with you. And as bad as I hate to admit it. I wear those depends pads. Not the pull up undies, but those thick pads. I can be out anywhere and it will hit. I am always a little embarassed to buy them,( kinda feel like everyone is looking at this 29 year old girl buying depends.) But I have to say I feel more sure of myself when I'm wearing them. I cant just stay at home. I have 2 young children and a husband that depends on me. I have to get out. So I'm glad I started using the depends. Anyway , maybe this is something that will help you. Just dont feel bad. We've all been there. Love ya lots. Paige
Guest guest
I hear ya. I've been considering buying them myself as well. My difficult is more a urinary one tho. If I get a bad cold with a cough, I tend to have a little leakage. of if I laugh too hard. I don't think it's really fibro related tho. I'm guessing it's just weak muscles for myself and possibly getting older. It's also refreshing to find out that we can talk about these things easier today than even a couple of years ago. At least these problems are more recognizable and accepted now than it was in the past. I don't think that even 3 years ago I could have come onto a mailing list an admitted to having a bladder control problem. Thank goodness for this. :-) Gentle and warms hugs to all, Norah Re: Re: Beware-Bowel subject! Bless your heart honey, I can sympathize with you. And as bad as I hate to admit it. Guest guest
Paige, thank you for a great idea. I wore depends after my knee surgery because I could never make it to the bathroom. Never thought about them for the 'squirts'. Thanks so much. Hugs, Cam Re: Re: Beware-Bowel subject! Bless your heart honey, I can sympathize with you. And as bad as I hate to admit it. Guest guest
Ayep.....Depends here too. Take away the pain meds or give me a dose of the flu and I'm a real stinkaroo......Plus I have loss of bowl control or rather no spincter control due to nerve damage from a spinal injury...SO it hits me both ways..No such thing as a normal bowel movement for me. But diarrea...I don't even try to make it to the toilet..Same with delivery...tore something terrible as when it came time to 'push'....fine but no way I can not push..Both my deliveries tore me up badly. I keep myself regular with fruit and an occassional correctol. ENUF on that subject. lol Just Me.... K

Guest guest
I have the opposite problem (I'm having trouble spelling because of my meds, please excuse me) I cannot go number 2 easly, and I've had both, where it was uncontrollable and where I am so backed up that I vomit. The worst of the two believe it or not is being backed up, pain wise. But the embarrassement of going number 2 in front of everyone is also unbarable, I know. I don't like eigther or. I completely relate. Jana

Guest guest
Sundra, I don't know how many people will fess up to this problem but I will. At least in the morning until my percocet kicks in! I find it difficult to do alot. I'm sitting here with a blanket around me because I left my windows open last night and it's chilly but I hurt too bad to close the windows. Meds haven't kicked in yet. So I will be cold till then. But I DO have that problem also. It's hard. YOu are not alone my friend! Margaret mom to the monsters Re: Re: Beware-Bowel subject! Guest guest
Yes it's embarrassing, but truthful. I have difficulties as my back pain doesn't leave me great range of motion to begin with, let alone being overweight. So between the fibro pain, back pain, and being overweight. It just generally sucks to go the the bathroom. Some days I want to take pain killers in anticipation of what is yet to come. :-( hugs, Norah Re: Re: Beware-Bowel subject!
