tethered cord syndrome recurrence

My uneducated opinion is that the second a body is touched inside it will be

prone to scar tissue. It's the body's natural defense to something foreign. It

doesn't matter where inside.... from head to toe. Even if there was a cup, or

saran wrap.... or anything put on that cord, it would develop scar tissue where

the foreign object hits our own body parts. It's a given. Scar tissue will

grow back. The only hope is, that when it does, it doesn't cause too much

grief.

Re: tethered cord syndrome recurrence

Simple fact although other members may disagree. There is no tried

and true technique that prevents a recurrence. Surgeons do employ

different techniques, which they believe may reduce risks and the

severity of tethering that will form after surgery. Retethering

risks range from 10%-30% depending on the type of tethering and the

number of vertebral levels involved.

Unfortunately, there is no real way to prevent Retethering as of yet. They

have tried thing, but things really haven't turned out the way they'd hoped.

As of now, most, if not all, will Retether after a Detethering......but it

only becomes an issue if you become Symptomatic again. And if you haven't

become Symptomatic, you can get termed, for lack of a better phrase, not

Retethered.
