I checked the radar on the web right after I typed that response. If there are any other meteorology weenies on here, have a look at the image I am attempting to upload (Yahoo is being stubborn). Just west of the dot where it says " Tucson, " just south of the " ar " from Marana, is about where Mizzion & Ajo is located. Once I saw that, I had to go. I got to the intersection, and I had not seen any evidence of mesocyclonic rotation or even storm cell organization. I saw some mammatus, some green cast to the high cloud base, but I saw no low base or any sign of rotation. I had been looking as I went south, and I saw nothing that would support the idea that there had been funnel clouds. Either the meso had died before I got there (the report could have been delayed before making it to the news) or else the spotters do not know a funnel from virga. Given the echo on radar, though, I am somewhat inclined to say the former. Ok, Yahoo won't let me upload an image. Nice. I'll do it as a file. Ok, that worked. I just realized this while taking my third shower of the day (if I leave the door open, it warms up the apartment a bit)... the echo on the radar shows rotation in the wrong direction. If I were in Australia, it would be correct. I failed to notice that before dashing out the door.
