bummer. yeah my son gets the worst bloody rashes youve ever seen so i cant imagine waht theyd be like if this causes them. time will tell.

Two problems we encountered (that may not be a problem for others)... more gas and it makes the poop more acidic. If your child is able to use the toilet I would just caution to be sure he wipes well. But I guess like anything else, judge for yourself--our pediatrician gave lactulose to his own daughter and b/c she was toilet trained there were not problems with it (per him). Please don't feel too bad. The main problem for us was that we had to give my

son a cleanout every few weeks. It was during those cleanouts that the

burn/rash happened. But I do know what you mean. When my son has a bad bloody

rash like that, we have to let him get backed up in order for it to heal.

We got a prescription for Vusion Cream from the doctor, that stuff rocks! yeah it has stuff to fight yeast infection in it and all the other ingredients are your classic butt cream ingredients. We know its not a yeast infection so this one probably wouldn't work for him. We have used a cream called 'Corona' lanolin rich ointment that you find in

the pet section of the store. A relative of ours suggested it to us, who

used it on her psoriasis sores. It is called an ointment, but it looks

like a thick cream. Also, a layer of plain Vasoline petroleum jelly

is a good preventative method; it keeps the bm off the skin, for the most

We dealt with a lot of bloody rashes when our daughter was a baby, and, at 3 and potty trained we still deal with rashes. Here’s what we’ve found that works: If the child is in diapers, gently wash the skin with soap and water every diaper change. For poops, we would put her in the tub or shower and soap and rinse real quick. For pees, we’d put warm water in a squeeze bottle, put a thick stack of wash clothes under her bottom and squirt her wet, soap her up then squirt her soap off. Then you have to get their bottom very dry before putting a diaper back on. Our nurse suggested a hair dryer that has a cold air setting, that worked well. Then, to treat the rash, we used a concoction of Maalox minty flavor liquid, hydrocotizone cream, and lotrimin – a small squirt of each, mixed together and then applied. Once the rash goes away, the best butt cream we use as a preventative each time a diaper/pull up goes on is Canus Lil’ Goats Diaper Cream, you can buy it online. Its smells wonderful and works great, it’s got 40% zinc. Another thing we do when there’s a rash is add baking soda to her bath to sooth it, we do this for a sore anus after straining too. It works for us...a jar lasts a long time, so I don't know if the ingredients

have changed or not. My son hasn't had blisters in a long long

time; I use this and mainly Vaseline as a preventative measure.
