---My friend was just diagnosed. Her doctor put her on the

glucophage XL once a day. I don't know what the miligrams are

though. Anyway, he told her to just test twice a day and just

prescribed one box of strips for her. She is to test first thing in

the morning and again 2 hrs after breakfast. After breakfast today

she came in at 106. But she just had eggs and sausage. It was 130

when she got up this morning she said. He also told her to get the

glucotablets in case the sugar went too low but I said to her how are

you supposed to know that if you aren't supposed to test? She

follows what he says like a book and will not deviate from the course

which is good as far as following what to eat but I am concerned

about the testing. I wanted her to test before she left work today

but she wouldn't cause the doctor said not to!!! She doesn't see him

again for a month.

Hi Madge,

If she is anything like me, she will know when she starts getting low. It

happened to me so often when I was on the Glyburide (after I had lost

weight). The low is a different feeling than any I've ever had. Sometimes I

would test then eat something; other times I would not test but eat. I do

keep the Glucose tabs with me, but seldom use them.

Hi Mark,

I do check out the grams in sugar-free items and I also test and re-test

after eating sugar-free items. So far, I have had no problems with any of

them.

Hi Carol,

I need to put my data in a spreadsheet. That is a great idea. I've not

worked with spreadsheets too much, but I'm sure I can do it.

Thanks for the hint. I added it to my many Excell worksheets I already use to

track just about everything. I love this program. It makes everything so much

easier.

Why don't you go ahead and upload it to our files for those who can use it.

Eunice:

I'd be happy to send you, or anyone else, my Excel spreadsheet if you

would like to see it. I could also upload it to the files section of

this group so that it is available to all members. The only

requirement is that you need Excel installed on your computer in

order to open the file.
