Guest guest
My suggestion is find another way to fix the problem, Miralax will only complicate things. Look at Natural Calm plus, aloe vera juice, oxy powder. Use all of these, for instance; natural calm plus in am when he gets up, make sure that he is drinking good water, 6 oz, NUMEROUS times a day, and also aloe vera juice 1 to 2 times during the day and then 2 to 3 pills of oxy powder in later afternoon. Do anything but miralax. Look at his diet, is he eating a lot of cooked or processed food? Bring his % or raw up. Up his vegs and fruits, anything but Miralax.THi, I'm new to the group and I'm sure this was touched on, but I don't have time to read through old posts. My special needs son- Who has severe brain damage, was started on miralax last week- it's been a week of miralax. Since then (he's normally a little irritable) but now he's pretty much screaming in pain/bloody murder, isn't even acting like himself at all, and just seems to be in distress. I was trying to find a sheet that lists possible reactions/toxicity if that is possible.. Thanks!
Guest guest
He actually only gets breastmilk- by mouth and via gtube... feeding is a struggle as it is. We tried the baby calm..it at first it helped pooping... but we couldn't increase the dose on that because it made his too relaxed to the point he was floppy. Guest guest
Hi - I'm sorry that you and your son are going through this and I'm glad you found this group - there are many people here who have successfully resolved constipation issues without Miralax or after removing Miralax & I hope you'll get lots of advice. ALso, I think Jeanie has a continuously evolving list of symptoms and possible side effects that people have reported to the FDA and here in this group. One thing I would suggest is that since you are breastfeeding (yay!), considering looking at your diet for possible causes for his constipation. Both of my boys had GI issues in their first few weeks of life that resolved dramatically when I eliminated milk/casein, soy, egg, and corn. Later, when constipation became an issue for my older son, gluten was determined to be a big part of the problem. The top most common 'offenders' are gluten, dairy (anything containing milk/casein - including baked goods), egg, soy, and corn. Some people find that just one of these can be the culprit, some find it's a combination of two or more. Some find that eliminating any/all of these do not help - but in my opinion, it's worth a try. best, > > He actually only gets breastmilk- by mouth and via gtube... feeding is a struggle as it is. > > We tried the baby calm..it at first it helped pooping... but we couldn't increase the dose on that because it made his too relaxed to the point he was floppy. >
Guest guest
I've tried all of those things, but nothing helps. I think a lot of his issues are because he's paralzyed. I will try the oxypowder with him and see if that helps. The only thing i haven't removed is eggs. I myself live on eggs. I have a very limited diet as it is... because of my problems, and if I took away eggs... I wouldn't be able to survive... so I know my luck is, he has an issue with eggs.
