I had a hysterectomy, when I was 30, due to severe endometriosis. Once I was diagnosed, and the surgeon suggested a hysterectomy, all I said was " yippee, I'm ready right now " . I had my ovaries removed a few years later. One from adhesion's, the other from a recurrent noncancerous cyst, the size of a soft ball. (ouch!) Are you taking any hormone replacement therapy? You might need to, especially if your ovaries were removed too. A sudden drop in estrogen can cause depression. Surgery, is a shock to our bodies, and feeling depressed for during the recovery time isn't unusual. I like what Lyndi said, about not buying feminine sanitary products any longer. I also loved not having menstrual cramps, nausea, vomiting, not to mention waking up drenched in blood the first morning or two, and all the not so fun things about endometriosis. Once again, it's good to have you back. I hope you will see a doctor if your depression continues. Living with a spouse who has substance abuse problems, must be very difficult too. A counselor can also be invaluable when dealing with the stress, frustration, anxiety, and depression that chronic pain/chronic illness causes.
