I forgot to mention that I did not have my vitals tested today at the

urologist's. And when he was going over my medications with me, he said

he was not familiar with Enbrel. I guess when you're a specialist you

can't keep up with all of the other diseases, too, but this did

surprise me. I think he is very knowledgeable when it comes to urology,

though. But when my sister had her uretha stretched, it was done in a

hospital while she was under anesthesia. I guess his way is a lot

cheaper, but a lot more painful, too.

Please tell me why you had to get your urethra

Sue,

I am having surgery in August and my ortho doc, anestesiologist, and the people

at the surgery center all either haven't heard of Enbrel or don't know much

about it. Seems kind of scary to me. Thank goodness for my rheumy-he told me

to tell them all to call him and he would educate them!! lol.

,

I can understand specialists in various fields not hearing of Enbrel, but

I¹m surprised that your ortho hasn¹t heard of it. Ortho¹s are usually up on

meds used in rheumatology since they do so many joint surgeries. At least

when they are done with you, they will be educated!

, for some unknown reason, my urethra became constricted,

making it hard for the urine to get through. Instead of coming out in a

steady stream, it just dribbles out very slowly, stopping and starting

a lot. I had it dilated about three years ago, but it really didn't

last very long. But it had gotten so much worse, I knew it was time to

go and get unclogged again.

I've been researching it on the Internet, and it is very rare in women.

It's weird that both my sister and I have it. Most of the articles I've

found apply mostly to men. I asked the urologist if he couldn't put in

a stent, but he said not in women because their urethras are too short.

I've also found articles that said it was a bad idea to have the

dilation, saying that it can leave scarring and must be repeated, but

they didn't give any alternatives.

I don't know if it has anything to do with autoimmunity or not. My

sister does not have an autoimmune disease.

And, yes, it was very painful. I finally got up and took a sleeping

pill last night so that I could get some sleep. But today the pain is

gone.

I must be a rare person, because I have several rare things, such as RA

and also a genetic eye disease, Fuchs' corneal dystrophy.
