Bryn You truly may want to refer this client out to an RD specialized in allergies. If these are allergies that might cause anaphylaxis, then 100% avoidance is a must, and that takes some extensive doing and expertise as well as psychological support, as living with an allergic, IgE reactive child is VERY stressful and a major life change. Is this woman also working with an allergist? What kind of allergy testing was done to determine these allergies? , Rast, SPT? IgG? Have they been confirmed by DBPC challenge? I'm not sure if Deb Indorato will work long distance, but even with all the food sensitivity/allergy work I do, I still stay hands-off IgE reactive pediatric patients. Will cc this to Deb. Anybody else in your area that has this expertise? Guest guest
I am working on a case JUST like this right now and it is very complicated. Corn is found hidden in many places and from what I have been researching lately, it can be in the coating of milk cartons as well as in packaging. Here are some links that I have been on with some very useful information. You also need to watch commercial corn syrup as all of the corn protein in not removed which can cause a reaction depending on how allergic the person is. Antibiotics can also be a problem as they can contain corn. Hope this helps Karann http://forums.delphiforums.com/avoidingcorn http://corn-freefoods.blogspot.com/ Corn and Soy allergies Has anyone encountered a patient with corn and soy allergies?
