Guest guest
spelling error, " reclined " is to be DECLINED! Statins Hi Everyone, I'm sure some of you have already heard about this, but I didn't, until recently. I have fibromyalgia among a couple of other things that cause me pain. But I've recently learned that possibly a lot of the progression could be related to taking Lipitor and Tricor, especially together. Both of them cause muscle wasting and pain. My mobility has really reclined over the past 3 to 4 yrs and that is how long I've been on these two meds. And personally, I didn't think it was all the fibro, but as we know, once you are dx'd with fibro, it becomes a catch all dx. Everything under the sun is then blamed on it because we have such a wide range of symptoms that go with it. Cognitive difficulties, memory problems and other things go with it too. Well, guess what, they also go with the use of Lipitor, Tricor and the other Statins on the market. If you would google " muscle wasting and Lipitor " . You will come up with many sites pertaining to this. A few of the sites are nothing but patients writing about their difficulties since being on the Statins. Needless to say, I've discontinued the use of both of these and am seeking natural ways of managing my chorlesterol. Along with diet and well I can't exercise as I can only walk about 20 feet without needing to sit and it is very painful to walk as well. This has robbed me of much. Since I've had Fibro for over 14 yrs and have only had this kind of progression since being on the Statins, I have to contribute a lot of this wasting to the Statins. If any of you take this med. You should research this and make your own decision as to whether to continue taking the Statin or not. Just thought I'd let you all know of my findings. Guest guest
Good for you Rod.....I'm not even going to tell my doc. Last time I had the levels checked my HDL was like 38 and it shouldn't be that low. I asked then if I should go off of the meds and he said oh no, by all means stay on them. I did sign up to be a part of a class action law suit. I hope the damage isn't permanent. I'll be totally ticked off if it is. Even if the law suit just gets it off the market and gets the word out there, then that's enough for me. But I would like my mobility back. It sucks, I'm only 45 yrs old and live worse than most 80 yr olds. I hate it. Hope you are doing good. Guest guest
Hi Tommie, I'm having the same problem with the statins. I took myself off from them once because my muscles were weak and hurting and waking me up with pain and cramping. Then I got back on them because the doctor told the nurse to tell me on the phone that if I wasn't going to do what he says then I shouldn't come back to him. When we moved I left a doctor of 20 plus years and now I feel lost. There aren't too many doctor choices up here and who knows how they are. But I agree, the statins are terrible. No telling what else they do to us. What are you going to take or do? I wish we could all find a break thru for the replacement of statins. Get this: I went to him a month ago because I was getting to where I couldn't walk at all, he made me an appointment with a vascular specislist for JUNE 26th for my legs, so ok, I'm ok with that. THEN the nurse calls with my blood work results and says he wants to add ANOTHER statin drug with the other statin I am ALREADY taking and he wants me to eat low fat and WALK!!!! What the * & ^^* & ^ is he thinking, I just told him thw statins were not agreeing with me several times and he 's sending me to a specialist because I can't walk and then two weeks later he is telling me to do this crap! One of us has lost our friggin mind! Guest guest
, I can't remember what all I've looked up, I'll have to go back and do it again when I get paid the 2nd of July to make my purchases. LOL My memory is so horrible and I just looked all of this up the night before last and of course didn't write anything down. I'm super tired right now as I've been up all night and day. I'll look it all up again later on today or tomorrow after I get a good nights sleep and this time I'll write it down and post it tomorrow for you and who ever else wants to know. I'm not only stopping the Statin's but also the Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) as I've been on the same stuff, same mg for 11 yrs and being over 35, that isn't a good thing, so I'm dropping my HRT too and picking up something natural, which is called, umm oh darn, I can't remember the name of it either and I used to take it. lol I'll look that one up for ya too in case you need it. Anyway, from the research I did and the natural components I found, they actually do a better job of lowered bad chloresterol and raising good, and lowering the triglicerides than the Lipitor and other Statin's do. But docs have to promote the Pharmaceutical companies so they don't share the knowledge nor probably even have the knowledge of natural treatments. lol Ok, I feel like I'm talking in circles now. I'll sign off here for now and post the info tomorrow.
