Summary: In a study involving 28 patients (between the ages of 40 and

70 years) with distal sensory-motor diabetic neuropathy of the lower

extremities, treatment with berlition, a preparation of alpha-lipoic

acid, at a dose of 600 mg/day for a period of 3 months was found to

significantly reduce clinical symptoms (sensory and motor) and

neurological changes associated with peripheral neuropathy in the lower

extremities.
