My Hep suggested that I take it all at once at bedtime

and this has actually helped me alot. Since bile will

buildup during the night and that is when it can

sludge itself, it makes sense to me to have the Urso

there to stop that, then in the morning at breakfast

it dumps from the gallbladder.

My GI doctor suggested I space it out so it won't make me " urpy " (in

his words). However, I take my first two doses of 2 capsules each within

2 hours of each other with very little food and it does not bother me,

so I guess I could just as comfortably take all 5 capsules at bedtime.

I just got up and found the monograph I got with my last refill:

Take this medicine with food or milk.

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE with antacids containing aluminum.

STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightlty closed container,

away from heat and light.

IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it

is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to

your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS: SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment,

include nausea, indigestion, diarrhea, metallic taste, gas, stomach

pain, or dry skin. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your

doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience

itching, rash, headache, anxiety, tiredness, depression, muscle or joint

pain, cough, or runny nose. If you notice other effects not listed

above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

I don't like talking about certain bodily functions, but unless I eat

eggs or cheese during the day, by evening, I have to make one mad dash

to the bathroom. I am taking an iron supplement with breakfast and

dinner, so the iron combined with Actigall might be causing this

effect. In any event, I have not found it problematic enough to phone my

doctor about, but I will discuss it with him at my next appointment in a

few months.

By the way, one of our other members has already requested that new

people let us know a little about yourselves (male or female,

approximate age, where you live, how long you have had PSC, etc.).

Providing such information is not required but we can't help but wonder

why you choose to remain so anonymous.

Margie,

Dr. kaplan told me 3 tabs 2X a day. I am supposed to

be meeting with him on Monday -- if he gets home (he

is stuck in China right now) and I am going to ask him

about taking it 3X a day instead. The one problem is

that I know myself well -- I will never remember to

take the dose in the middle of the day. I am horrible

about taking my meds -- unless it is 1st thing or

before bed. I really need to get up a little earlier

and try to eat something. That may help. While we are

on our honeymoon, I will try that and see if it helps.

I would love to go to that routine. I check with my Hep. to see what he

says. I take it 3 times a day currently (1500 mg total)
