I thought this might interest many of you. Has anyone ever looked into mercury poisoning as a reason for the kind of constipation our children (and some of the adults here) endure? I will check into it this weekend, when I have more time, but if anyone knows about it (specifically what this woman is saying), I'd love to hear more. [pediatricgastrosupport] Re: My daughter (6yo) has been cured of gp -Sue and Louise,I would love to say that my daughter got her mercury from vaccinations. It would be much easier than what I found to be the truth. I am not a proponent of vaccinations. My search into the world of mercury toxicity began when I read a book entitled Evidence of Harm by Kirby. He is a journalist who investigated mercury as a cause for autism. He did open up the question of thimerosal which is an organomercury compound used in vaccinations as a preservative. The content of thimerosal in vaccines was changed in 1999 due to much concern from parents, autism organizations, and some health care providers. Physicians will now tell you that vaccines don't contain any thimerosal, but that is not true. There is still a trace amount present and some vaccines like the flu vaccine, rhogam, and varicella still contain the full amount. My daughter did receive all her vaccines through 6 months, but she was born in 2004. The vaccines she received would only have contained a trace of thimerosal. While any amount of mercury is not beneficial to the body, this small amount could not account for her issues.I looked at other possible sources of exposure for her, but could find none. I of course had all my childhood shots in the 1970s and lots more due to my choice of profession in the health care field. I played with liquid mercury for a few minutes as a child when a thermometer broke. I also had 7 amalgam fillings that dentists love to refer to as silver. These are actually 50% mercury by weight! They are also composed of tin, nickel, silver, and copper.I then read an article by Dan Olmstead. He is a journalist who had gone into several Amish communities in a certain area of the country to interview these people. The only cases of autism he found were in children that were adopted. He could not find a single case in children born to Amish members of the community. Because of this work many were stating that the cause of autism was vaccines due to the fact that those in the Amish community do not vaccinate. I knew there had to be more to it than that. About that time I read two stories from women on mothering.com discussion forums that intrigued me. One woman stated that her child had the diagnosis of autism, but had never been vaccinated. Another woman had a child with autism and he was about 3 years old. He had received regular vaccinations on a delayed schedule. She happened to have a hair clipping form the child when he was four months old and at that point he had not had any vaccinations because they chose to delay the vaccination schedule. Months after receiving the diagnosis, this woman sent in his baby hair clipping for hair analysis. It showed high levels of mercury. The woman was perplexed how this could be since he had not yet had any vaccinations at the time the hair was cut.I continued to read everything I could get my hands on and came across and anecdotal story of English women in the 1800s who worked in lead smelters. As the story went, the women learned the symptoms of lead toxicity and knew when they were becoming sick from the constant lead exposure. They would then PURPOSELY become pregnant. They knew that the fetus would take on the sickness and self abort after several months of pregnancy. The women would then be free of the lead toxicity symptoms and go on working. This put it all together for me.I started looking for documentation or any type of research that proved that a fetus will detox its mother's body of mercury. What I found was chilling. I found that the fetus will absorb mercury like a sponge from the mother's blood. It proved to me that if my daughter had mercury toxicity, it must have come from my own body. On the site www.iaomt.com (International association of oral medicine toxicology) there is a green video box "smoking teeth" on the right side of the home page. It reviews the study done on pregnant female ewes that were implanted with radioactive amalgams. The study then detected where the mercury had deposited after a very short time. It confirmed my suspicions.www.iaomt.comMoneca
