She had no spinal fluid leak and was back home at 48 hours after surgery doing whatever she felt like doing...which for her was walking and playing as normal. Each surgery is different, but that was our experience. --------- Spinal Leak > > Hi ALL! > My daughter just had a Tether Cord release on Aug 26 2004. I have > a question about the spinal Leaks. Guest guest
I was not allowed to lay on my back at all. on my side with a roll behind me for 5 days. Maybe adult surgery is different. > >Reply-To: tetheredspinalcord >To: tetheredspinalcord >Subject: RE: Spinal Leak <fwd> >Date: Fri, 3 Sep 2004 16:52:20 +0100 > >Hi, > >I was told to lay flat for 3.5 days (op on Tuesday morning and >mobilised mid-morning on the Saturday)- I can't work out how many hours >that is!!!! > >Nina >Bristol, UK > >--- Begin Forwarded Message --- > >Date: Fri, 03 Sep 2004 15:48:33 +0000 >From: lefondren@... >Subject: RE: Spinal Leak >Sender: lefondren@... >To: tetheredspinalcord >Reply-To: tetheredspinalcord >Message-ID: ><090320041548.29005.41389250000F33BC0000714D2200734840020A9D0B0201000A04@comcas\ t.net> > > >, >My daughter had her detethering when she was 17 months old (June 2004), and >she had to lay flat only for 24 hours. Guest guest
My spinal fluid leak started 14 days post operatively - following a wound infection. After 4 weeks of intensive treatment, both medical and surgical, I now consider myself an expert on CSF leaks! But I can think of plenty of other things I would rather be knowledgeable about! Guest guest
Yeah, I was on my side all the time, with a pillow behind my back. I didn't dare roll on my back due to the horrendous pain it would cause!
