Guest guest
Hi Tammy,So sorry you're hurting. You haven't said what substances you're taking, but I'm assuming you're herxing from killing Lyme. I'm afraid the onset of tackling Lyme often makes us feel a lot worse before feeling better. My first herx was a horrific, ten-day experience that eclipsed my earlier experience of back-ache labor with my first child! if I hadn't known what was happening I would have been in a terrible state of panic and fear, and would probably have gone to an E.R. where things would have been futile, or worse for the long-term outcome. Most pain remedies don't seem to do much for herx pain and they can further burden the liver, which is already struggling with the burden of die-off. Alka-Seltzer Gold or Baking Soda can help alkalize and reduce pain somewhat, as can water with fresh lemon. Your epsom salts baths will ease things somewhat. French green clay or bentonite can help bind toxins and carry them off quicker. Drinking lots of good water is essential, to help the body rid itself of the die-off toxins. Mag oil sprayed on the body at 50% strength, can help, and, for that matter, extra magnesium and potassium can ease the muscle pain...a lot.If you're in a herx, this is sign to back down on killing a bit until the herx abates, otherwise you'll simply be piling on more toxins that the body must struggle with.Coffee enemas are a truly effective way to detox and they've always shortened my herxes and lessened their severity. They are the mainstay of my Lyme recovery. Most experienced, recovering Lymies will concur. Detox should be a solid third of the over-all fight in dealing with Lyme.I hear you about the tensing up. Find any means at your disposal to relax: music, mantras, prayers, singing, self-hypnosis, silly movies to distract, DEEP BREATHING, and taking inventory: muscle by muscle, to consciously relax each muscle group, over and over, if necessary. Tension will only sap energy you need. Like in prepared childbirth, if you can get on top of the pain with shallow breathing and then deep, cleansing breaths, continually monitoring unnecessary tightness everywhere, and also monitoring your mind: repeating 'I can do this', 'This will pass'. It WILL. As they say, 'Adversity introduces us to ourselves' and healing Lyme is an arduous course in learning about yourself and how strong you can really be. (not bad stuff for anyone to acquire, even though we Lymies are acquiring it under duress.)Lyme treatment is all about pace, not race: ramping up slowly on killing protocols, easing off when the herxes get really strong. Any other approach, from what most people have experienced here, is counter-productive. You're not alone. We're here, and we're getting well, but it's a long road, not to be rushed.Be well,Léna Hello, I will make this short cause I can't sit up for very long. Guest guest
Hi Tammy,I'm hoping some others will chime in too, because there's a wealth of info here among the experienced Lymies in this group. I hope you can go through the archives, too, because there's a lot more to know that could get you up to speed. Also, you may want to check out: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/lymestrategies/ this is a great site whose central protocol is the Salt and C treatment of Lyme, which I consider one of the best protocols I've used to beat this disease.Alka-Seltzer Gold is easy and more pleasant to drink, but a teaspoon of B.S in a few oz of water, although not as tasty, will do the same thing and more cheaply. I put my B.S. in capsule form, because it's easier to take.Be sure to sip your lemon water through a straw: that's less hard on your tooth enamel, as it's still acidic in the mouth and only turns alkaline after it's metabolized. This is a low-volume, easy-to-do coffee enema that works for me.I was told to take chlorella sometime before doing the CE, (it'll bind heavy metals dumped by the liver so they can't recirculate) so I take the tablets orally before my morning b.m. and then, after that occurs, I do my CE.As for my procedure, here it is: Short version: First have a bowel movement (to make space). 8oz Faultless enema bulb (google it) Organic instant coffee (NOT decaf. I use Mount Hagen which has no additives, but there are purists who say one should only use brewed coffee. if I had to do that, I probably wouldn't comply for very long. This way, I've been able to keep up the regime now for over two years, missing very few mornings) Waterproof pad on bed. Put hot tap water ( if good water) in sm. teapot, add 1-2 tsp inst. coffee, stir, pour into enema bulb. Lubricate bulb's tip with virgin coconut oil, Lie on right side and gently insert. (You can first do in bathroom, just in case, but bed usually works out very easily) Takes a little practice, but you'll quickly get the hang of it. Once tip is fully in place, squeeze/wrap the bulb around thumb as you squeeze to get max volume. Hold for 15-20 min., or more, if the book you're reading is that good. Evacuate. This works for me. Many people use the larger enema bags, with hoses and clips, and lie on a pad on the bathroom floor. they are more effective, but I was traumatized by this as a kid (pin-worms) and only did it a couple times as a grown-up Lymie. Great for those who can do it, but my low-volume efforts, done daily, seem to help the detox process very nicely.Be well,Léna Thanks Lena! I am using homeopathic remedies from Deseret Biologicals. Guest guest
Hi Tammy, The good news is that the homeopathics are working as it is typical for symptoms to get worse before they get better. If you are seeing a homeopath, is it possible that they could give you a homeopathic version of a pain killer such as Indomethicin or rheumadyl? I have really found the homeopathic versions to work quite well for pain without all of the toxic side effects. Also, you should learn to do EFT. Many of our emotions will manifest as pain in our bodies. Emotions such as stressful events can actually be stored in places in your body such as your back or your shoulders. I have found that emotions play a huge role in pain. Learning to tap on the emotional events that manifest as pain can release pain from your body. If you don't know what emotions caused the pain, then you can just tap on the pain directly. If the pain starts moving around your body, then you know that your pain is emotionally based. When we are sick, it is hard to separate emotions from our illness, since emotions can play such a huge role in the symptoms that are manifested from our illness. > > Hello, > > I will make this short cause I can't sit up for very long. Guest guest
Hi Sherry, I do two to three coffee enemas a day. I have found that they are so effective, that if I get feeling a little toxic, I go do another CE. I am also finding that putting binders in the CE really works well. I place drops of liquid Zeolite and Chlorella directly into the coffee. I just use organic coffee from Costco. I tried the 's but thought it was expensive, it smelled stale and I didn't think it was any more effective. I have even opened capsules of EDTA and put them in the coffee enemas. I also attribute the liquid Redi-sorb Glutathione placed in my Coffee enema as getting me past my sensitivity to plastics. You can't get a better delivery system for Milk Thistle or other herbs then the coffee enema as they go directly to the liver bypassing the stomach. My annual heavy metals test have come down significantly in the last two years and I attribute it to the aggressive detoxing with Coffee Enemas. Prior to Coffee Enemas, they were continuing to climb in spite of having occasional DMPS infusions. Coffee enemas are a very powerful tool in our detox arsenal. > > I agree with Lena that C.E. are the mainstay of detox and its the first line of defense for me for lyme pain; nothing has come close to working as well as this for me. I'm also taking cholestyramine at that point on a heavy herx day and plan to check with my LLMD about the best timing for that. Guest guest
I just want to add that EFT and other similar techniques are very powerful and even are being used effectively with people who have experienced a lot of emotional trauma. Its worth learning and trying. That's not to say that lyme symptoms/pain are " all in our heads. " We are dealing with a real physical illness. But I've become increasingly respectful of the mind/body connection and benefiting one area benefits another. Sherry > > > > Hello, > > > > I will make this short cause I can't sit up for very long. Guest guest
Marie, Cholestyramine, chitosan, charcoal, are by mouth. I discussed this yesterday with my LLMD and he said that liquids will be absorbed okay in the C.E. but herbs (powdered, etc.) wouldn't be absorbed very well. I used my injectable GSH and added 1 cc to the coffee with good effect, per his suggestion too.
