Guest guest
I am so sorry to have to meet you under these circumstances....however I'm certain that you'll find this group very helpful and informative... The mere fact that the doctor said he " didn't think so " about your suggestion that his problem may be PSC makes me feel a little leery of his ability to diagnose his condition. If its not PSC then what is it? Do you have other insurance available to you? Is he a retired Vet with medical benefits? I ask these questions because there are other teaching VA facilities around the United States.....Bethesda Naval Hospital.....VA hospital in Baltimore works in conjunction with the University of land Medical School...It may be worth a trip, once he's stable......Certainly California, which is closer, has VA Hospitals. My husband Mike has probably had this disease , now that we reflect on it, for at least 15 years. However it wasn't until recently that he was diagnosed. I'm certainly not a doctor and not as well informed as others in this group but his symptoms sound a great deal like PSC. Have you known of any severe fatigue.....URQP.....bloating......his right side very sensitive to the touch? All this prior to his becoming ill 11 months ago? Have they taken blood and run specific tests for Cancer? Also, help me here people, if this procedure is done with the looping does this eliminate his chances for a liver transplant? And also is Tony on the transplant list? When you mention that Tony was a Veteran......of what conflict? The reason I ask is that there are studies of Vietnam Veterans and the disproportionate amount of Hepatitis. There is a theory that drinking patty water and ingesting flukes may be a cause. This is only speculation. Sorry for all the questions I know the group will have better input and correct me if I have miss-spoken I hope that you and Tony will find the answers to your questions soon. My very best to you both and I'll speak to you later. Lynn
