Right and remember, Marg, that if you're new to probiotics AND the right strain, you might feel "sick." In reality you're not sick, you're healing. Marg, can you tell us where you live? Thanks. Marg,Saurkraut is a great source of probiotics. It's easy to make but if you're not up to making it yourself you can buy good (unpasteurized) kraut in the refrigerated section at health food stores or better grocery stores. Just make sure that it says that it's not pasteurized on the jar. Bubbies is a great brand. Also, if you like spicy foods, kimchee (or kimchi) is a Korean fermented veggie mix that's also delicious. Before I knew about the benefits of fermented foods I tried it and couldn't stop eating it right out of the jar. I guess my body knew it needed those probiotics and veggies. You could easily buy one jar and try it to see how your body reacts. You can also easily make your own probiotic drink, cabbage rejuvelac. I have a jar in my fridge with which I could have bought 40 jars of saurkraut. Different probiotics though.->> when one chooses a probiotic ,which one do they choose as I can't have a lot of things like wheat,rye,barley,sugar,any white foods like flour ,no milk,casein,and much more and I also am hypoglycemic and can't tollerate artificial sugars either.It's hard as my dr. said I could try a probiotic but he doesn't believe they have perfected a good one yet.He said the bacteria die before they reach the intestines and said they could have a lot of side effects. I have tried a couple and got bad diarrhea from them and took them for over a week or two. thanks marg>
