Hi Beth!

An MRI of the Lumbar area " should " show a TC. My youngest daughter's was very

obvious. My middle daughter's....well, the jury is still out...she has a fatty

filum (fat at the tip of the cord) but her cord does not appear to be tethered

in that it is not stretched beyond the L1/L2 area....so impression (the person

reading the film) can be a big deal.

Good Luck!

dizziness

hi everyone,

I am new to the group and would like to introduce myself and ask a

few questions. My name is Beth I have a 11 year old son he has

chiari malformation has not yet been diagnosed with tethered cord but

it is one of the things doctors are looking for. the only for sure

sign of tethered cord he has is a foot deformity he has some small

bladder issues (occasional burning feeling usualy is gone before

doctors can check for infection)I am not sure if this sounds like the

type of bladder problems people talk about with tethered cord? his

main problem is dizziness brought on by any close work (reading,

writing) showers and physical activity especally running. do any of

these sound like they would fit with tethered cord? the dizziness and

focus problems sounds more like a eye problem to me that is also

being checked. and the last question I have is would a tethered cord

show up on a mri or could it have been missed if the dr was looking

for something else? he had one done a few weeks ago by his chiari dr

he was looking for a syrinx and I don't know if this could have been

missed because at the time tethered cord had not even been a thought

to anyone. thanks for your time and input. Beth
