Why parents stay on this board one their child is no longer on Miralax As the tone on this board has changed to a near shrill level, I think some people had a hard time understanding why some of the Mom's (like me) stay here to warn people about the potentional side affects. Let's face it -- we are all busy people. For me, I had my son on Miralax for over a year after reading the prescription package insert and being assured by ER doc, pediatrician and GI doc that is was perfectly safe. I had also told myself that I had tried everything possible to get my son to have regular BMs, but I didn't have this group to help me find alternatives. Once I found it and several other groups - like the Vitamin K group-- I finally found natural solutions that worked for my son. I keep posting and answering questions here because NO ONE TOLD ME about the dangers of Miralax. That is why I posted in the files section with information about what worked for us. That is why I stay here and try to explain as best as I can why I feel that Miralax should be the absolute last resort -- after trying all 40+ more natural solutions that have been suggested and used with success. I don't have a lot of sympathy for parents who refuse to try eliminating certain foods for a few months because it is 'too hard'. I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who say they've tried everything -- but they've never read the files section to see what other people have tried what has worked for their child. I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who do not look beyond the mainstream medical community for answers. Let's face it, your body is not 'deficient' and needing a petroleum byproduct. In many cases the constipation is a wakeup call for you to find out what is out of balance in your body.I plan to stay on this board in the hope that I can help one or two people avoid what my son went through. It truly took him 2 1/2 years to get detoxed from the 14 months of Miralax.
Guest guest
I am with you sister!!! This stuff is poison I have said from the start and experienced the worst! I do not read too much anymore I know it is dangerous and will not ever use it and warned even friends and family about what we went through. My cousin was prescribed this for her 11 year old and after I told her about our experience she told her doctor no way. She would use an alternative method too. We do we eat a lot more vegetables and eat Activia everyday! What difference our life has been! Stay strong!
