,

Thanks for the uplifting words. I guess I am still in the process of finding

my path. I am learning slowly, but surely, my limitations and how not to let

fear/pain over-ride my creative energies and abilities.

I did change my Major yesterday from Social Work to Sociology. Social Work

involves a lot of intern work that I didn't know how I was going to do with a

full time job. So now I will have a Sociology Degree with a Minor in Social

Work. I'm really excited and I feel good about the future instead of weary.

So, yes, it takes baby steps. And I'm all about enjoying the scenery!!!

  • 4 years later...

We had this for months and months and I kept having him checked for urinary infections, but it was actually because my son was chronically constipated ie the abdominal xray showed colon to be completely full of poo. This was a big shock as my son had actually been opening his bowels on a daily basis ....Nina (UK)

Have any of you noticed your child having urinary frequency with their constipation?

What constitutes frequent urination? Also, to Nina, would you say that your son had a "normal" amount of poo when he did have BMs? Was his belly distended at all? Thanks,LilluTo: miralax Sent: Wed, February 23, 2011 4:59:31 PMSubject: Re:

thank you

this is exactly what we have been experiencing with our four year old.

she started having frequency in november.

clear test results, no pain, etc.

finally, gut instinct...i took her to the GI. she's " full " even though she

goes once or twice daily...not sure what's going on...just hope i can help her.

she goes pee pee 28+ times a day...and she is voiding every time. not a lot,

but enough to catch in a cup, if needed, is coming out.

her daily BM would indicate that she has no problem in regard to withholding,

constipation, size, consistency....she goes every day, soft, size seems " good. "

only the frequency has allerted me to her issue again. we have not had to deal

with this since just after he second birthday.

It seemed to be worse at night, where he would wake up in the middle of the night and go , but then a minute later would go again( just drops at times ) and this would go on 10-20 times for the next 2-3 hours .And yes it was a decent amount of poo, daily,so much so that I had stopped his laxatives months before. ( His gut problems had come to light 4 yrs before that )..and yes tummy wasn't distended .......crazy 2008 was a tough year, rubbish sleep, aggression etc and it still didn't click :-(((( Jack was 12 yrs old at this point , been on gfcf diet / probiotics since he was 4 yrs old, scd/gaps diet for a while, again I came off the latter because I thought he was doing well ,duh. This is apparently called soft stool constipation, where the child goes but doesn't empty it all out ( much worse effects to brain than if he just hadn't gone for a few days but then went and pushed it all out.....according to Dr N McBride, author of GAPS Gut and psychology syndrome .Anyway 2009, high laxatives all year, but still xrays showed complete loading, colonoscopy in 2010 showed inflammation/colitis so now on anti-inflammatories ( which had a dramatic effect )plus daily laxatives.Nina ( mum to Jack , 15 next week, autism)

Look into the GAPS diet, Gut and Psychology Syndrome advice on going grain free, sugar free, juicing, high fat foods, fermented foods, probiotics, cod liver oil etcThere is a Gaps forum ,with many families with young children like yours who have healed. There is a GAPS Guide book too. Look into supplements like probiotics,Kids calm, foods like prunes etc which have a stimulant effectThere are some docs in US who are now supporting this diet.Take care x
