Guest guest
I'd check around, find a dentist that is knowledgeable about TMJ and go get a work up. I called the dental society, got 3 referrals. My orthodontist's receptionist knew all about TMJ, explained it to me, so that is the one I went with...loved him!!! He put me in a " splint " ...molded plastic...just like the " trays " that you put that tooth whitener in, then he would " adjust " it, by filing down, bit by bit, as my muscles were " retrained. " He also recommended that I get physical therapy at the same time, but I couldn't afford it. Then, I went into orthodontia, then I had a retainer, again, a " splint-like " device which I wore for years. I just didn't have the $$$ to follow up and have a new one made after I had some crowns done on my molars. That's one of the biggest problems I've encountered with having FMS....not having enough $$$ to cover the things that would help but aren't covered by dental coverage or Medicare...arggghhh!!!! FWIW Caren

Guest guest
does this ear thumping thing seem like your hearing your heart beating in your head? because that happens to me and it is irritating. I have TMJ, but I don't know what all the symptoms are, and I don't know how to take care of it. My teeth chatter sometimes and it is awful. It will keep me awake for days, and my jaw hurts really bad when it happens, but it is not a constant thing, it comes and goes. thanks, Jana
