Guest guest
Sharleen, I have what is called Sjogren's Syndrome. Or since I have all the symtoms but my blood work is negative it's then called Sicca Complex or Sicca Disease. Sicca means dry. Sjogrens is sister/cousin to lupus.  It causes VERY dry eyes, mouth, skin, nasal passages, etc. It causes internal dryness as well. And many more things.  The problem with auto-immune illnesses are a person can have all the signs but still test negative. It's frustrating.  That is why winter time is so hard for me. I need to live where there is plenty of moisture. SS also causes MAJOR fatigue.  And now I have this ongoing burning pain in my neck, shoulders, and back. I sure do hope my neurologist gets to the bottom of what the problem is.  All I can suggest is you see the BEST Drs. you can find to help you. Keep a daily dairy of what you feel. A good Dr. would run several bloog tests to rule in or out illnesses. BUT remember you can still test negative and have all the signs of something.  Today was a HIGH pain day for me. Strange yesterday was much better.  I wish you well in finding what the problem is.  Hugs, Subject: Re: New To The Group To: Hugs-N-Pain Date: Sunday, May 17, 2009, 3:14 PM Hi , was reading the blogs and Im fairly new to this whole thing. I saw that you said you dont tolerate the winter well due to your type of lupus. I was just wondering if you could ellaborate on that. I am trying to get a diagnosis and since getting ill, I can not handle the heat or humidity. i also now have been having a hard time with the cold. I too have a hard time just being in the frozen food isle. Starting to think there isnt a place on earth that I would be able to tolerate. Hope you are feeling okay! I have severe neck, back, shoulder pain. Thyroid disease, type 2 diabetes, and a form of lupus.  I am currently seeing a neurologist to find out what is causing all this pain. I have NEVER been in this much. He has been kind enough to RX Vicodin 10/325 3 times a day. But I do know the longer I take it the less effective it can become.  I REALLY need you folks for support and information. I am worried this may turn into a chronic pain problem and in the long run what can be used to treat the pain? Any help, ideas, meds that will work long term for chronic pain etc.... Guest guest
That is EXACTLY how I told my neurologist I feel. I said " I feel like a walking blow torch " .! For some odd reason the pain has really localized to my neck area. I sure hope it's NOT RSD. I will ask at my next appt. But I would think he would of mentioned RSD by now. Who knows. Guest guest
I have RSD, so far JUST in my right leg from the mid-thigh down…..it is incredibly painful….RDS doesn’t ALWAYS spread to other body parts, though it CAN. Guest guest
I heard that about s Hopkins. Its just hard figuring it all out. Ive tried to give my docs a chance but I think enough is enough. Have you gone to many different docs? cause when I did change the neuro I first had, the other seemed to have that attitude, like oh great heres a crazy girl going from one doc to another. Maybe its my own comfortability but I dont know how to go about. Im also a single mom, with a daughter who has things going on that I need to take to all different therapies, so its been hard to figure out how to go to somewhere so far. Have some family around but not too many that would be able to help. But I guess one has to do what they have to do, so Ill look into it. should be able to find someone that could watch them. dont mean to be a pest, but do you know what the alcohol thing could mean? thank you for your suggestions and hope you get your answers as well! are there any good hospitals in Hawaii for you to go to? Best wishes, Sharleen ________________________________ To: Hugs-N-Pain Sent: Monday, May 18, 2009 8:37:03 PM Subject: Re: New To The Group Sharleen, Don't know where all you have gone to find out what is wrong. But s Hopkinks is in Baltimore and is rated very highly. I would say if they can't find the problem no one could.  The problem you are having with alcohol is s SURE sign of what is wrong.  Like I said Sharleen keep a very detailed diary. You just need to get to the right source and you will have your answer/answers.  Good Luck and Hugs, From: Sharleen Rupp <sharleenrupp@ yahoo.com> Subject: Re: New To The Group To: Hugs-N-Pain@ yahoogroups. com Date: Sunday, May 17, 2009, 3:14 PM Hi , was reading the blogs and Im fairly new to this whole thing. Guest guest
Sharleen, Your reaction to alcohol could be a good/huge clue for a knowlegable Dr. Some illnesses make you intolerant to it.  The current neurologist I see has been a Dr. for the Olmypics, Ironman, many, many things. Plus he is a Clinical Prof. at the Univ. here.  I have always had much luck with teaching Drs. and schools. How about New Jersey? There has to be a teaching school/univ. Try to find one and be seen there.  Sorry you have so much to deal with all at once, plus taking care of your family. I wish you much luck in finding your Dx.  Hugs, From: Sharleen Rupp <sharleenrupp@ yahoo.com> Subject: Re: New To The Group To: Hugs-N-Pain@ yahoogroups. com Date: Sunday, May 17, 2009, 3:14 PM Hi , was reading the blogs and Im fairly new to this whole thing.
