I also give my baby girl (2.4 yrs old) pureed prunes mixed in with her oatmeal cereal every day and nearly everyday for the past week or so, she has been having large soft BMs, which makes us all happy, but she's still not gaining weight - she's been 24lbs for nearly a year now.I, too, would be interested in learning if there is a contraindication for giving prunes daily. I give her about 5 Tbs (2 Gerber containers) of the puree daily. To: miralax Sent: Thu, January 14, 2010 8:31:49 AMSubject: Prune Smoothie

My child, 7 yr old, 55 lbs, has been off MOM since Jan 8. She's been constipated since Sept, and has needed stool producing aids (miralax, MOM, probiotics, fiber supplements) for the last 4 months.

Before bed she is drinking a super secret smoothie (prunes). She has been having massive movements.

Super Secret Smoothie

3 Scoops Bryers Vanilla Icecream

3 Sunsweet Prunes

1/4 cup milk

We plan on cutting back tonight, maybe 2 scoops of ice cream and 2 prunes. Has anybody had problems with giving their child prunes? Is it bad to give everyday?

oh, bestmom, I meant to mention that if she is suffering from constipation, perhaps ice cream and milk are not the best thing to give her as they can be constipating. you could make the smoothies with fruits and fruit juices, too.To: miralax Sent: Thu, January 14, 2010 8:31:49

This is working for now. I tried to make yogurt smoothies, but my 7 year old

would not drink. She does drink milk shakes.

Has anybody had problems with giving their child prunes? Is it bad to give

everyday?

I think it is harmless, infact most likely very good for daily nutrients. I would compare this to any other fruit that is ate daily like oranges, apples etc. This is great she is eating them. Jennie<><Subject: Re: Prune SmoothieTo: miralax Date: Thursday, January 14, 2010, 10:50 AM

I agree with Jennie -- think of it as similar to the old adage " an apple a

day... " Out of curiousity, what changed last Aug/Sep? Any school stress or

booster shots?

I think it was a combination of factors. School started and she didn't have the

freedom of a home enviroment, where you can go to the bathroom or drink water as

you please. Also she didn't like using that bathroom at school.

Now she has potty time before school & bed. During potty time she watches a

movie on a dvd player. She didn't have any shots since last year.

Also, during the summer I gave her calcium yummi bears. I now know that too

much calcium can be constipating.

Not sure if it was school, calcium, or something else. I really don't know how

this happened. The GI doctor said her intestines were stretched out and she

would continue to stay constipated until the intestines returned to normal (6

months). Hopefully the prunes continue to work.

We wanted to remove her from Miralax because it caused her strange behavior and

caused her to fail her spelling test.
