Guest guest
Salli, Your Thanksgiving sounds rather hectic, but not yucky. Everyone sat together for dinner, and did state what they were thankful for. Did dinner turn out well? I take it Louser didn't come over? And I laughed too, when you said you might have been thankful for your kids. Because like your children, I know entirely too well to ever think otherwise. Grace Yucky Thanksgiving > Horrible. Everyone fighting even more than last year. I had half decided it was the worst ever when I recalled the two Thanksgivings that Lou ruined by getting mad and sulking in his office when my parents were visiting. It had never occurred to me that someone might behave that way on an important holiday. > > Now my kids are behaving that way and I still can't believe it. > > spent the whole day telling me how much he hated Enrique and asking me what I was going to do about him. I really don't know; I mean, it's not like I hadn't noticed there was a problem. What does he have in mind, shooting him? > > Putter spent the whole day demanding waffles and apples. He consumed so many apples that I am surprised he hasn't sprouted leaves. > > Robbie was just plain cross. > > Sophie was chattery which was fine, I guess, but it was hard to hear her over everyone else's screaming and then she got mad when I couldn't hear. > > Enrique was really pretty good; he helped me a bit in the kitchen after refused to. said that Enrique never helped so why should he? Not true, actually; Enrique will help unless you totally ask at the wrong time. He is incompentent of course... > > My biggest difficulty was that Robbie fell asleep on my shoulder shortly before dinner got ready. I could wait a bit as the turkey is so hot when it comes out that it is hard to cut anyway. But I kept having to do them and it is hard to decide if it is harder to do things with a screaming baby grabbing your legs and begging to be picked up or with a sleeping baby over your shoulder. I did the latter for a while and then I did the former. Robbie screamed through most of dinner. It was not a pretty sight. > > Then Enrique had to set his place at the table with paper plates and paper cups. It really looked good mixed with my best china (which isn't all that great but at least it is china). Have I ever mentioned that OCD sucks? > > We have a small Thanksgiving service that involves candles (we couldn't find the matches for a long time; we had to hide them from Putter last year) and Putter had a fit as he feels that all candles must be blown out instantly so that they can be lit again. We used to eat by candlelight and now we can't because of Putter. > > Anyway as part of our Thanksgiving service we each have to say what we are thankful for. I said " I guess maybe I might be thankful for my children although given how obnoxious you have all been today I am no longer sure that is true, " which made them laugh as they must have thought I was not serious. Ha! > > Enrique was grateful for the cats. We figured that Putter was grateful that he wasn't NT and Robbie was grateful for nursey-milk. > > My bottle of wine had a bad cork in it that fell apart and left me sipping luscious bits of cork. When the cork finally did come out, it spattered me with lovely decorative droplets of wine. > > So it went. And so I go: whine, whine, whine. Oh, well, at least I don't have bits of cork floating in my whine the way I did with my wine. > > Salli > > > >
