Guest guest
Tina, I am interested in reading that article, if you could tell me which issue of the Journal of Gastroenterology that it is in, I would appreciate it. My husband is in early stage PSC and I have been adamant about avoiding ERCP. His doc has been OK with that so far, but I would like to have some back up evidence for my argument should he change his mind. Thanks, Liz
Guest guest
An ERCP is still the only definitive way to make the diagnosis of PSC. Biopsies and liver function tests may be suggestive, but the ERCP for diagnostic purposes is the only proven scientific means of making a PSC diagnosis. Guest guest
Leona, There are 11 others from Canada listed in the database (use the link at the bottom of the page to get there). Barbara MacGillivray from Winnipeg is young woman who has had 2 liver transplants (3/97 & 12/1/97). She and her mother, are very open to discussing any concerns you might have. I should also mention Aubrey Goldstein, our resident expert from Ottawa, also a tx recipient. He has been invaluable in giving us an inside line to the medical community. Guest guest
Liz, I can't find the article right now, I'll keep looking. I believe it was June or July 1999. If I locate it I'll let you know.
