Ursodiol is the chemical name, not the generic name. Although in

English, generic can be used to say it's the general name. So that may

be correct. There is however no generic product available for either

Ursofalk or Actigal as far as I know.

Normally when an Endoscopist sees a polyp, he/she removes it for

pathological examination. Polyps can be either benign or malignant or on

the way to malignant. In people with UC they tend to be either on the

way or trully malignant. That being said, removal and further close

screening may be all that's required. If you've had UC for many years,

we usually suggest colectomy when malignant or pre-malignant polyps are

found because we know that the risk is very high at this point for

cancer to continue to form. Best of luck.
