Hello,

My daughter was diagnosed with spinal lipoma, fatty filum terminale

and tethered cord w/ normal-lying conus at age 2. She immediately

had 'detethering' surgery due to bowel and bladder problems. One

year later, my daughter still cannot have a bowel movement without

standing on her tip-toes and exerting incredible pressure, plus she

needs daily laxatives/enemas to keep her bowel emptied. Her

urodynamics show great improvement in bladder function since surgery

(pre-surgery was flaccid bladder).

If anyone had/has experienced similar bowel problems, I would LOVE to

hear your experiences, treatments, docs suggestions--my daughter is

severely speech delayed and cannot tell me why she suffers pain on a

daily basis. It is only my guess that the pain is related to the

bowels, since assistance with an enema always seems to relieve her

pain.

Thank you,

Desperate to relieve my girl's pain
