Todd,

If the practice that is capturing 90% of the referrals doesn't have a waiting

list, has good outcomes, communicates well with the Docs and participates in

the payment plans, why should the Docs take a chance and refer to you?

I don't try a new cleaning service every time a new opens just to give the

new guy a chance. If I'm happy with my current service, I stick with it.

It's like Internet companies, sometimes it is just a matter of who gets there

first if everything else is the same.

Barrett,

I agree with you entirely. The situation stinks. I did not go looking

for the situation in the co-op, I sort of fell into it. I do not play

golf, however, so 2 clinics down the street get the rest of the ortho

docs and most of the PCP's!

My thinking is that educating the general public about PT is the way to

go. Most doctors will allow a pt to go where they choose, if insurance

agrees. Patients are becoming more aware - I have been asked " Are you a

licensed PT? " at the start of the eval. And several have told me

upfront - " I want my treatment from a PT not a PTA or an aide. "
